Latest Cubs Minor League Update: What's Happening On The Farm
Top prospect Owen Ayers eyes a September call-up while Caden Sorrell makes a powerful debut, providing a high-octane look at the stars rising through Chicago's developmental ranks.

What is up Cubs fans, and welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And the Cubs Major League team has played really good baseball since the All-Star break.
They're 14 and 8, and they currently own the top wildcard spot in the National League.
But how is the Minor League teams doing?
Who's hot, who's not down in the minors?
Here are three things that you should know about the Cubs Minor League system down on the farm.
The first is that Caiden Sorrell recently made his professional debut.
The Cubs selected Sorrell in the second round of the 2026 MLB draft, and he quickly made his Minor League debut just this week.
On Friday, hit his first professional home run.
So Sorrell quickly getting up to speed here in the minors, started at Single A Myrtle Beach, and will plik- likely spend the rest of the Minor League season with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Obviously, good to see him get some action before the end of the year, obviously after the Cubs just drafted him in this year's draft.
The second thing is Daniel Palencia.
Palencia recently made his first rehab assignment appearance with the Iowa Cubs on Wednesday.
Didn't look too sharp in that outing.
Allowed a run, one hit, a couple of walks, a strikeout across two-thirds of an inning.
Not great in that outing in his first appearance since suffering a right flexor strain in mid-June.
But Palencia bounced back on Saturday, looked good in his second rehab appearance.
One scoreless inning with one walk and one strikeout.
The Cubs likely wanna see at least one more rehab appearance for Palencia at Triple A before activating him to the active roster.
But Palencia is very close to returning.
The last one is Owen Ayers.
Owen Ayers has been the, one of the biggest risers in the Cubs farm system this season.
He started at High A, moved up to Double A, then moved up to Triple A, where he has dominated Triple A pitching over the past couple of weeks.
Ayers was promoted to Triple A after the All-Star break and has posted really good numbers there, batting over 300, one home run, walk to, right, strikeout ratio also looks great.
So Ayers has a real good chance to be promoted to the big league roster in September if he continues to hit the ball well.
