Freddy Peralta connected to Mets past and present, what about the future? | The Mets Pod
On The Mets Pod, Connor Rogers and Joe DeMayo talk about what they learned from Freddy Peralta's Mets introductory news conference, and whether or not Peralta will sign an extension with the Mets before the season starts.

For those that weren't familiar with Freddy Peralta's personality, very uplifting, bubbly kind of guy.
kind of went into how, you know, his early memories as a baseball fan are associated with the Mets, and that if he was gonna be traded, you know, to be here is kind of at the top of the list, which was pretty cool.
And also played it kind of slow when asked about an extension, that he wants to feel things out here, get comfortable, and I feel like the Mets have kind of said that themselves.
But what did you think of Freddy Peralta's intro with the New York media and this team?
Dude smiles so much.
Like, he smiles through every word he says, and it doesn't come off as fake or insincere- Oh, no, it's him through and through.
Like, like, he is just genuinely a happy guy.
And I had no idea about, like, the history with the Mets, that the first Major League stadium he went to was Shea Stadium, and he got to see Pedro and Reyes and Wright, and he has family members that are, like, New York City police officers.
so there's a connection that I just didn't know existed.
And when you talk about the extension, he's smiling as he's saying it, 'cause he smiles for everything.
But everything that I heard sounds like a guy that would probably love to have a contract extension as soon as he gets comfortable with the, with the team, with the city, and maybe the team gets comfortable with him.
And I know there's been a lot of back and forth on this subject, obviously, over the last few days, and some people think just wait it out, which I get, and the Mets certainly could do that, and frankly, might be smart to do that.
But I'm not here to do what the Met- what I think the Mets are smart for.
I, I want Freddy Peralta.
As long as everything blends the way you think it's going to, let's try to figure this thing out in spring training.
And by all accounts, from what he said now publicly, and some reporting, it sounds like it's at least something that he'd consider, so I, I'd try.
