Yeah.
Ray starter Shane McClanahan was pretty good, to be fair, to give him credit.
But the Giants had a couple of nice knocks.
They could not bring anyone in, and missed opportunities is the word that continues to come up.
We saw it happen in the fourth inning.
Luis Arias rips a double down the right field line, and then gets waved around by third base coast, coach Hector Borg, and gets out, which was a big talking point from yesterday.
And then we're gonna show you another, time that happened in the top of the fifth.
But starting with this, Serge, kinda what was your reaction here?
I mean, you looked at that point of the game like it was still, you know, a close ball game and, they were still in it.
They were I mean, they were always in this ball game.
They never really fell behind too far.
Mm-hmm.
But you like the situation where they're just trying to get something going- Yeah and they finally got a big hit, and that, in a situation they get at least a runner in scoring position.
And then they got a little bit too aggressive and they, you know, they were out.
Yeah.
Here, we're looking at the fifth inning this time, and it was Rafael Devers and Jung Hoo Lee who both hit singles, got on base, and then Gerard Encarnacion hits into a double play, which is also something I feel like we see time and time again, where the double play just absolutely kills momentum for the Giants.
As you see some of the missed opportunities on your screen.
In these last four games, the Giants batting just 179 with runners in scoring position, Serge.
And for a while there, at least for the first, you know, 20 games or so, it seemed like the issue wasn't getting guys on base, it was, or the issue was getting guys on base.
It wasn't e- Right, just getting on base with hits, right?
Right.
And then now, you know, because they were getting the, the, the hits with runners in scoring position- Mm-hmm and now it just seemed like that is reversed.
So now they're getting guys on base, they're falling a little bit short on getting those guys in, for scoring runs and whatnot.
But you look at the situations in which they're doing this, it was a pressure situation, first and third.
You got Encarnacion, who hasn't really played a whole lot- Mm-hmm as of late, and he goes in there and he's facing a high caliber lefty in McClanahan, who's starting to catch, stride of his own.
this is the second solid outing in a row to where he goes and he c- puts out shutout, performances.
but he just went and dug into his bag of tricks at, at the end right there with Encarnacion, making them fish out of pitches out of the zone.
And that was one thing that I noted earlier, where they didn't, they didn't go up aggressive.
They took a lot of first pitches in this ball game, and they were ahead most of the time, one-nothing, but maybe a little bit too aggressive on the second and third pitches, swinging at pitches out of the zone.
