Giants Emphasize Long-Term Growth for Bryce Eldridge
The San Francisco Giants sent Bryce Eldridge to Triple-A Sacramento as roster competition tightens ahead of Opening Day.

So for the San Francisco Giants, it was announced that Bryce Eldridge will be sent to the minor leagues to start the seasons at Triple A.
And, you know, this relatively comes as, you know, he was a guy who was competing for an opening day spot really until, you know, the end of this week, until he was eventually sent down.
but, you know, the, the main thing is, you know, not necessarily the fact that, you know, he wouldn't have been a, a player that, you know, would've made it based on his stats, but more likely, you know, a detriment to sort of getting, you know, playing time early in the season.
And, you know, for a guy that, you know, really is, you know, expected to play a big part in the Giants franchise at some point, you know, that, that's really, you know, going to be the main factor why he was sent down.
You know, obviously, you know, he could have, you know, made this opening day roster, been a guy who could have slid in at, you know, first base or DH.
but, you know, the opportunities for him, you know, really would've been, you know, hard to get playing time.
Obviously, there's a lot of, you know, players that, you know, are going to be, you know, fighting for opportunities.
But, you know, Eldridge likely, you know, is a guy who, you know, needs that consistent playing time.
And, you know, Tony Vitello talks about this.
You know, they already have guys like Rafael Devers on the squad.
So certainly, you know, that, that obviously makes it very difficult for a guy like Eldridge to sort of get consistent playing time.
And, you know, that, that's the main thing you really need with young players is, you know, consistency to sort of just be able to develop in the major leagues.
And, you know, that really would've been hard for a guy like Bryce Eldridge to sort of get at the beginning of this season.
Now, you know, the likelihood is that he's going to make the Major League roster at some point in this year.
he already was part of the team last year.
while he did struggle, you know, he really did make some jumps this spring training.
a-and, you know, really the, the main thing is just him getting more consistency at the plate, sort of just, you know, filling in at, you know, first base and sort of just, you know, developing more.
but, you know, he is expected to play a part in the Giants season later this year.
