He had a Tuesday.
Like, he, he met- He Bryce Harper for the first time, and Harper actually, like, kinda knew who he was.
And he met Aaron Judge.
They were first base together, compared heights.
His- Yeah.
They could actually look each other eye to eye Judge had a helmet on, so it was a little unfair, but- Oh I actually thought he, he played well, too.
I mean, I, I know there was an error and he went O for three, but really competitive at bat against Paul Skenes.
And, he made a couple plays defensively that just shows how comfortable he's getting.
And I made this comparison on Twitter, like, they're playing him further away from the bag than I remember last year.
Mm-hmm.
And part of that is just his improved footwork.
He's not ever gonna be Brandon Belt, but his height allows him to kinda be over in Brandon Belt territory a little bit, where you're go, like, "That guy can play way off the bag."
He's comfortable getting back to it 'cause he needs three steps to get back to the bag.
and he, he made a play that was that reminded me a lot of Belt, and also could be sneaky important if, you know, Arias, who's on this podcast, he's very confident about his defense.
But if it's Eldridge and Arias out there at some point this year, the fact that he cuts off some of that range, could be important.
So something I'm watching.
I, I think that's one of the best things I've seen this spring, is just how, how much more comfortable Bryce Eldridge looks at first base.
Seeing him at first and seeing him just be the spotlight of a very star-studded day at the ballpark, did we glean anything from that about opening day?
Or, you know, we're, we've already had our opening day.
Yeah.
It doesn't reflect the season conversation, but at least him being on the roster.
Watching the game, I just and especially watching the Skenes at bat and, you know, taking a good changeup down and then crushing a ball to center that- if not Byron Buxton is out there, Bryce Eldridge has a double off of Paul Skenes.
I just kinda made me think, like, I don't really see the point of him going to triple A. I- Yeah I get it.
I get why they would do it.
I just also think he needs to face the best pitching and needs to grow.
We'll see where this goes with them.
It's probably a coin flip right now, but something about I think that Skenes at bat is just gonna run in my head for a while, just of, like, he's comfortable up there against, against those guys, and he wants those at bats.
And, should be sooner than later.
