Jack Campbell: Defensive MVP Earns an A+

Jack Campbell didn't take a step forward in Year 3 — he took over the Detroit Lions' defense.

I figured we'd take a little break from all this Drew Petzing talk, dive back into our player report cards.

Now, I've covered the majority of the offense.

Basically, just have to do Penei Sewell.

I did Amon-Ra, Tesla, Jamo, Gibbs, Monty, Goff.

Um, I'm considering doing some of the other linemen, maybe Tate Ratledge, but, Uh, regardless, we are on the defensive side.

I figured I would do a little defense to start.

Off, and who better than Jack Campbell?

Let's start this off with a bang!

And Jack Campbell was the defensive MVP this season, making First Team All-Pro this year.

Um, in just his third year, Jack Campbell has basically exceeded all expectations.

I liked him last year.

I liked him coming out of the draft.

Uh, we all remember the scrutiny and noise that was around the Brad Holmes.

"Oh, he drafted a linebacker at pick 18.

"How could he do that?"

Well, that's why.

Brad Holmes, yet again, does it again.

And he, he nailed it with Jack Campbell.

And I know, um, it was a first-round pick, so, you know.

First-round picks are supposed to pan out, but still, a First-Team All-Pro in year 3?

Is pretty dang good.

Campbell set highs in total tackles, solo tackles, forced fumbles, sacks.

The only thing he didn't do this year was get an interception, which, kind of surprising, given he is an off-ball linebacker.

But I do think that, you know, Campbell has the hands for it.

We've seen him make interceptions before.

But regardless, outstanding season: five sacks, three forced fumbles, 176 total tackles.

All ranked, ranked in the top five besides sacks, um.

For any defensive player.

Uh, he was second in tackles.

He was, I believe, fourth in forced fumbles.

Um, just an absolute monster.

Commanding the defense now.

Jack Campbell, what a piece to have.

Uh, he's absolutely gonna get paid soon, but for now, Let's just enjoy that rookie contract.
