Jahmyr Gibbs Leads as Favorite for Offensive Player of the Year
Jahmyr Gibbs is in the running for Offensive Player of the Year, likely to amass 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns. Bijan Robinson follows as the 2nd favorite.

Tom, talk to me.
How do you feel about Gibbs, being settled in here as the favorite, for this award?
I like it.
I think he's deserving of being the favorite.
I'm not saying I'm betting it, but I think he is very deserving of being the favorite based on the potential to have 2,000 combined yards.
I think that's a, a very real possibility for him, rushing and receiving.
I think it's possible for him to have 15-ish touchdowns combined, maybe even more than that.
I think he is, I'm not gonna say, deserving to be the favorite.
I would like to see Bijan Robinson be more closer to a co-favorite, but I could see the reason why Gibbs is there.
The offensive expectation for the Lions, I'm expected, I'm expecting to improve compared to last season.
And again, Gibbs doing a 2,000 combined yards, on the ground and in the air, I think is very likely this year.
So I don't take issue with Gibbs as the favorite.
I do think a lot of it is just Monty's gone, here comes, you know, 70, you know- you know, 100 touch a game Jahmyr Gibbs, right?
And I'm not sure it's going to be that drastic, right?
Like, I actually think Isaiah Pacheco is not an awful pick in like some of these, you know, best ball fantasy leagues and things of that nature.
I also just think we've seen record s- matters here as well.
Like ultimately, what allowed JSN to hold off Puka Nacua is the Seahawks won that division and had, had the best record.
I think JSN would've lost it.
When, when you go back and you look at that race between JSN and Puka, while Puka did finish with about 80 less yards, he tied him in touchdowns and had 10 more receptions.
E- So I, I just It's one of those th- And, and Puka played one less game.
So it, it's one of those things to me, Tom, is Detroit projected to be good enough for plus 650 Jahmyr Gibbs?
Again, I'm not saying he should be much further back, but I, but you have to be in on the Lions to be in on Gibbs at that number.
I would say so.
I, 'cause I think Gibbs, you know, is gonna be in for more production compared to last year.
And, and this is even looking back the years that obviously David Montgomery was there with the Lions.
I mean, he went for 1,223 on the ground last year, Gibbs did, and he went for 616 in the air.
And that's, we're pushing close to 2,000.
Now, I think Pacheco will be used primarily on the ground.
The issue I really have is that I can make more arguments against players on that list than I can make for them.
I can make a very good case for Bijan Robinson.
We all know that.
He could simply do much of the same that Gibbs can do.
But I could poke more holes in those players on that list before I'd be looking to back them.
So I could poke holes in Justin Jefferson based on the quarterback inconsistency.
I could poke holes in Puka Nacua just based on the fact that he's due for some regression and the, the Rams' defense can be so good that they're not gonna be passing as much, et cetera, et cetera, so on down the list.
So I like Gibbs.
I also like Robinson.
But after that, as we get further down, there's really not anyone that I'm truly that interested in backing.
That's what it comes down to.
I'm not saying I'm running to the window to back Gibbs, but I just don't know who else I can make a viable argument for.
