Jets ink Hall to three-year extension

A couple of contracts done recently for running backs.
We'll start with Jets running back Breece Hall.
There was a point last year during the season- Mm-hmm we thought he was gonna potentially be traded.
Remember, the Chiefs had offered maybe a four, the Jets wanted a three.
It didn't happen, and then the season ended, free agency approached.
The Jets applied the franchise tag.
We weren't sure what they were gonna do, transition tag, franchise tag.
Is he really part of this team or is he not?
And then boom, three-year extension.
Deal is worth 45.75 million, with 29 million guaranteed.
I need to get the full details on that.
We always try to get into the nooks and crannies of these deals to show what they're really worth.
The average, new money average, is third among active running backs, Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley.
But again, I like to dig into it and see what it's all really about- Yeah how long the team is committed.
That's always the first question.
Mm-hmm.
How many years will the player definitely get before the team can say, "This isn't working out.
We're gonna rip it up," or, "We're gonna come to you and say you need to take less money than you're due to make"?
Yeah.
I, I, I mean, listen, I, I, I'm one here that's almost in amazement that we're still here with this low in numbers at the running back position.
This is the most talented guy on the Jets offense.
Let's just say that right away.
The best player on the Jets offense is Breece Hall.
He's gonna make less than half of Garrett Wilson.
Is that crazy?
Is that crazy?
And we're in an era here of two to three-year contracts, but we're still stuck that that's the way it is.
But I, I think this was a no-brainer.
I mean, he's the most explosive player on their offense.
He can score anywhere, anytime.
He's awesome in the pass game.
He's awesome in the run game.
your, your Aaron Glenn, it looks like they wanna push the ball down the field, be physical up front like Detroit was.
Wanna play through the defense, you need a guy like Breece Hall.
Breece Hall is the most dangerous guy they got.
So to me, yeah, I'm, I'm all for this, and I'm glad they got it done, and I think we've been kind of, you know, banging the table for this to get to, get done, regardless.
He's, he's phenomenal that way.
This is pure and complete and total speculation.
Yeah.
But I wonder how much of this epiphany the Jets have had as it relates to Breece Hall is a product of their new offensive coordinator, Frank Reich.
Mm-hmm.
Who possibly has shown up- And been like and looked at things and said, "What are we doing here?"
Yeah, right.
Like, have you guys been watching the tape?
Like, the only guy that can do anything on offense is this guy.
Nobody else can do anything.
Like, what are we talking about?
Garrett Wilson's real good.
He's real good, but he's not a superstar.
It's not like he can take over the game and do that.
You know, there's limitations to what he does there.
This is a guy that, yeah, we've seen.
I mean, from the get-go, right away when Mike LaFleur and, and, and in his years with the Jets, they featured Breece Hall.
He's got freakish type talent, and I You're right, I wouldn't be shocked if Frank Reich was looking at it going, "Um, you guys seen Jonathan Taylor over at the Colts?
He's kind of just like him.
Like, what, what are we, what are we arguing about?
What are we splitting hairs about?"
he's a phenomenal football player.
Good for Breece Hall.
Yeah, good for Breece Hall, and who knows what the Jets are gonna do this year.
I think between the Jets and the Dolphins, there's a chance that both could be better- Yeah, pain in the butt than we expect.
I, yeah.
I think they still need players in Miami.
Right.
They've got some players with the Jets.
Yeah, the Jets need some players.
They need to settle down that coaching staff.
