Where will LeBron finish his career?

Video Transcript

It's officially LeBron James' summer, and he could make $57 million next season, or $2 million.

That difference could decide where the King finishes his career.

But let's break down LeBron's money options.

He just finished a season earning $53 million with the Lakers.

Option one, the max, and LeBron could command up to $57.75 million for the 2026 to '27 season.

But only three teams are projected to have the cap space to offer it, the Lakers, the Bulls, and Nets.

Problem is, the Bulls and Nets are rebuilding.

Option two, take less.

The Pistons and Hawks could clear room to pay him in the 20 to $27 million range, but both would have to gut their rosters to do it.

Option three, the mid-level exception.

This is where it gets interesting.

For around $15 million, LeBron could join the San Antonio Spurs, who still have Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper on cheap rookie deals.

Imagine adding LeBron to that.

And then the nuclear option, the veteran minimum, just $2.45 million on a team's books for a one-year deal.

If LeBron takes the minimum, he can sign with any team in the NBA, even teams over the salary cap.

That's his cleanest path back to Cleveland, the Knicks, or even Denver.

But here's the thing, LeBron is already a billionaire.

He doesn't need the money, so this isn't about the check anymore.

It's about the ring.

And for the first time in his career, the smallest number on the table might be the one that means the most.
