On The Mets Pod, Connor Rogers and Joe DeMayo discuss Mets top prospect A.J. Ewing, after his success so far has brought him to Triple-A Syracuse, which puts a potential 2026 major league debut for Ewing in serious play.

Aj Ewing, Joe, finally promoted to Syracuse.
I said to you right away when you to- texted me this one, it's about time.
Yeah.
Yeah, no, it is.
And he, at double A he played in 18 games, hit .349, .481 on base, an OPS of 1.052, six doubles, popped two home runs kind of in, like, two of his last three days at the double A level, stole 12 bases, walked more than he struck out.
talked to a couple people in the Mets organization in player development, you know, after the news came out that he was getting promoted, and they were like, "You know what?
Maybe he shouldn't have started there in the first place."
He- "Maybe he should have started in triple A."
Clearly outgrew it.
Yeah.
So he This is such a premium prospect, and I know there's a lot of things going poorly for the Mets right now, and, Ewing is an example that this player development system still has its, its bones and its structure in place.
And Ewing is a guy that we talked about last year and into this spring as one of the biggest risers.
It's now not just one of the biggest risers in the Mets organization, this is one of the biggest rising prospects in all of baseball.
And I think when we get to the second half, I'm not gonna be shocked if you start seeing AJ Ewing on top 20 lists, top 15.
Like, he's gonna be one of the very best prospects in baseball.
And if And the reality here, as cautious as I generally am from a player development perspective, if he goes to triple A and just keeps on doing what he's been doing, like- We're gonna see him he's g- he's gonna force the Mets' hand, especially with the way things are going.
And if, if this season does go sideways and they do not turn it around, then it's a, an opportunity to just see what you have in the young players to prepare for 2027 if baseball isn't canceled forever, after this season.
I think Ewing making his major league debut with this call-up, the odds have significantly increased that we will see AJ Ewing this year.
