Minnesota Timberwolves land LaMelo Ball in blockbuster trade

This has the potential to be fun.
The Charlotte Hornets are trading Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps, and three second-round picks according to reports.
And let me just say, that sounds like a lot, but it's really not for an all-star caliber point guard.
In fact, I'd even go so far as to say the Wolves won this trade.
The only real asset Charlotte got in this deal is the 2033 pick and Reid, who's a solid forward and somebody the Wolves will miss, but you do that deal 10 out of 10 times.
Those pick swaps probably won't ever convey because the Wolves project to be at least as good as Charlotte, if not better over the course of those years.
Now, I'm not entirely sure that was the point for Charlotte, which is still in a great place.
They resigned Kobe White to play point guard and created a $40.7 million trade exception with this deal, the largest in NBA history, and they have a ton of picks over the next decade.
So they have everything they need to potentially trade for another star.
But I still like Minnesota here, putting Ball and Edwards together.
They've been lacking a true starting point guard for years.
Now they have one, somebody who can hit shots and handle the ball, take the pressure off of Anthony Edwards, who constantly gets double-teamed.
They do need to find another big after trading both Reid and Julius Randle this off-season, but this was a good move to try to keep up in the Western Conference.
