Petzing to Lions 'secretly good' hire for fantasy
Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter believe fantasy managers should be optimistic about what Drew Petzing can bring to the Lions as their new offensive coordinator, where Detroit's stars will definitely get time to shine.

The Lions cast an extremely wide net in their search for a fired offensive coordinator John Morton.
They settled on Drew Petzing, The former offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals.
I've seen many fantasy managers kind of mourning this.
Like, this is the death of the Funyuns.
I would say they weren't really paying.
Attention in 2025 when our guy Drew had fantasy in bio.
After Kyler Murray was benched, all Drew did was say, "Yeah..." was to facilitate elite fantasy returns.
Is Drew Petzing to Detroit maybe a secretly good hire for the Lions?
For fantasy, yes.
I, I, I really do believe that.
I mean, you're talking about a coordinator who, over his time in Arizona, coached one of the most efficient and best run games in the league.
Now, I know folks will remember the final 8 or 10 weeks of the 2025 season.
Where there was nothing to be had fantasy-wise in the Arizona backfield, But before that, they were really good with James Conner.
Trey Benson and others.
So we have that going with Jahmyr.
Gibbs, with whoever else is the RB2 for the Lions.
And, uh, you know, Jared Goff is gonna pepper his pass catchers here.
He's gonna pepper his difference makers in the offense.
That could mean more for Jameson Williams and obviously Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Brown.
Overall, I think it's a solid hire.
For fantasy purposes.
For real purposes, I don't know.
Say what you will about Jared Goff, he's an upgrade on Kyler Murray.
Definitely an upgrade on Jacoby Brissett.
And Petzing, A guy that I think is more respected by coaches than by social media users.
And if social media users...
They should have looked a little closer at those Arizona box scores.
