We saw that Luis is back in the lineup.

Just how's everything with him?

I think great.

He had a active day yesterday.

Obviously everybody else kinda resting up.

he had done a little bit of that, but to be honest with you, he's been pretty active, since the other day, just doing whatever he can to make sure he stays ready game-wise, like he always does, but then also any treatment he can do just to get back to feeling cl- close to 100%.

You had mentioned how maybe necessary that off day was for the entire team, given how the last three series has gone.

How did you personally spend the off day?

How did the team maybe spend the off day from, based on conversations?

Yeah, talking to guy, talking to guys, it sounds like a whole lot of nothing.

couple guys actually said they had stuff planned and then kinda banged it or, or canceled just to move on to relaxing.

actually talked with some guys yesterday, Arraez being one of them, but just trying to get sorted for today.

and then my parents flew into town for Mother's Day, so good to see them.

Not always good to deal with SFO, when you're in a car.

Getting on a plane's not a problem, but car's not good.

I saw, Schmidt, taking a reps outfield today, and are you, considering an option to play him in outfield in, in the near future?

Yeah, I think J-Rod and Schmitty both, they both been out there a couple different occasions and be available, whether it be there or left field.

I know Harrison Bader too is not too far off from joining our team.

you know, but for right now we're a little limited on outfielders, on the roster.

Again, I think that'll change a little bit with Bader, but time will tell.

I don't think it's too far off, but time will tell when that happens.

And right now we're just trying to, you know, ride out the storm a little bit because we know the offensive at bats are only gonna get better, and a lot of numbers'll start to even out.

But in the meantime, we don't wanna be overly patient, and just wait for things to click offensively.

So looking at the lineup every single day, trying to come up with different combinations.

and then also with Bryce here, I mean, you wanna have that threat in the lineup as often as possible.

Tonight'll be in a pinch hit role.

but get him at bats, but also have that presence of power in the lineup.

So with, with Jesus catching, kind of an offensive-minded lineup, behind the plate anyway, is it to the spot where, like, he's, he's your top dog behind the plate, or are you still going him and Bailey?

I think still kinda, to be honest with you, sticking with the theme of, at any point, I mean, rest is a factor at that position, but at any point we start a day or start a series, we're just looking to score runs and make things a little less stressful on the pitching side of things.

and also maybe just find that one little thing that clicks, you know, whether it's, a hitter in particular or one inning we put together, or really just the n- the group of nine working together that day offensively.

So that, that's the main focus for today.

You, you've been talking to Bailey, I'm sure.

How, what's his mental state of sitting out so often?

To be honest with you, he's been as energetic, you know, he I'll hold my answer.

I'm holding it now.

it's tough with a big crowd.

we just had a offensive meeting and, you know, he was quick to chime in, and so, I mean, you guys are around.

You can observe for yourselves, so I don't have any reason to give a, phony or BS answer.

But I, I think he knows, obviously the other guys do too with Bryce, with two guys coming up, they're not coming up to sit around.

They're coming up to try and help the team.

and then also we need to help them because they are young, so to be in the lineup too.

So, the guy's got an opportunity to go one of two ways.

Embrace everybody that's involved or whatever's asked of them, some guys lower in the order than they're used to, and make it a, make it a negative or a, ha- have kind of a down or negative approach to it.

Or be geeked up about it and be willing to do whatever's asked of them.

So that's all I've gotten from, from Patty in particular, but also the whole group.

Tony, can I kind of follow in, in the catcher vein?

Susac, I know it's only been a couple games that you have, but he's putting up some good numbers.

Is that lining up with what you're hearing?

Do you have any more of an idea, clear idea when you might bring him back?

Yeah, Frank, Anderson drove over with, over there last night.

I would've really liked to, but, family first.

but have, have watched the videos and seen the, the stat sheet and the, the write-up when it comes over after the games, and, you know, for him in the DH spot, they're getting good at bats out of him.

I think that's the one thing offensively for me that, I would feel the safest about saying take it to the bank.

I, I, I don't, I don't care what hitter it is, other than Barry Bonds, I don't think you can take anything to the bank offensively because there's gonna be ups and downs for everybody.

But just what you want is quality at bats or c- a competitive at bat.

And I really think with his approach and his mindset, you get a good at bat every time.

but I think tonight or soon after, we'll get him, you know, behind the plate, get some catching work back there, back to doing everything, and then we'll kind of assess where he's at after that.

Three years ago you saw Skines twice.

Yeah.

He was at LSU and you were at Tennessee.

First question is, was he the best college pitcher you ever saw?

Ooh, ever's tough.

you know, I got to be in the same dugout as Max Scherzer, and, it was just insane how big of a jump he made from freshman year to sophomore year, and you saw guys' bats going backwards.

and then Aaron Crow, I've said, you know, before to many a people, Drew was pretty, pretty entertaining to be around, but Aaron Crow might be the most exciting college player I've ever seen.

and I try and say that without bias.

Again, I was in the same dugout as him.

Paul was, he was fun to visit with.

I went up to Colorado Springs.

We had a good meal.

it's unbelievable what those guys on that Air Force team are doing, because baseball is like their side hustle, and yet they're expected to go out there and compete against, you know I was at TCU when they were in our conference.

And compete against, you know, I think Skines' last game was against Texas, or at least his last start maybe was against Texas.

So those guys are supposed to not eat as much as everybody, not sleep as everybody, go to school more than everybody, train, and then play baseball.

so to see his jump, it was a little different than Max's, but his jump I think everyone knew how good he was in the country, but it was a little bit surprising at how he just catapulted to the forefront.

So it's tough to say with different eras and stuff like that, but he was unquestionably the best arm that yearAnd that's, you know, it was Dolander versus him, who's with the Rockies, the first go-around.

And in the second go-around, a guy who became our Friday guy and him went at it.

And he was tough to beat better then, for sure.

So now that you're going to see him in the dugout but not on the mound this weekend, prefer it that way?

I'm good with it, I can tell you that.

You know, I recently spoke to Webby.

We spent a lot of time, just different guys in Tampa, the underbelly of the stadium, just visiting about things.

And that rapport came up with those two guys being on Team USA.

And I think the biggest thing with Skeens, whether you're a Pirates fan or not, is just the respect for the work ethic.

So he's an extreme athlete with extreme work ethic.

So anybody that's got those two qualities that aren't going to be on the field against us, I'm good with it.

You mentioned Logan.

Any update on his health status?

Yeah, I think a little bit understanding.

He's out there, you know, playing catch today.

He's moving around and active.

But I think just a better understanding mentally on why is there a little bit of discomfort there has come to the forefront.

I think that gives everybody peace of mind.

What needs to be done treatment-wise or anything like that is a little more of I read the sheet you guys get and then obviously I get a few more details behind the scenes.

But that'll kind of be up to, you know, him and the training staff.

He'll make his next start.

I would expect so.

But I also think a little bit of his assessing what's best in the long run is a difficult conversation with that guy because of he wants to man up and therefore he has manned up and I think thrown more innings than anybody I know last year but maybe the last couple years.

So if there's a delay in the start or even missing a start, it's kind of like pulling teeth like it was the other day.

I mean, that's the reason he came out of the game.

I'm well aware the inning before didn't go well.

So if there's any adjustment at all, it's eventually going to have to come with his blessing, which again is kind of like pulling teeth.

So let those guys coordinate that in the training room.

Tony Casey was taking fly balls off the wall out there in right field trying to figure it all out.

It's pretty difficult right field.

What's the reasoning behind him maybe playing some right as opposed to just playing left field?

I think with Bryce being able to DH and then also left field is still an option for he and J-Rod.

You know, who's going to be in center I think is the question.

When Bader comes back, you technically have three center fielders on the team.

But if you were to choose a fourth, it would be Ramos.

So I think when we get to that day, if it's an option kind of like the other day, we'll figure out how we want to move guys around.

But I think left field is an option for both of those guys.

If anything, there's more center fielders and there's more left fielders on this team.

If everybody's around, I'm kind of including Bader.

He's spent time out there as opposed to guys who have played right field.

So a little bit of it, again, is like the other day, picking your, I don't want to say poison, but picking and choosing who all you want to move around and who knows the position the best.

How have you seen Jesus respond just after that play in right field?

You know, it was so early in his career and such a crucial play.

Yeah, I mean, it was crucial, but every pitch of that game was crucial and you kind of felt the game could swing at any one moment.

And I don't know necessarily what the biggest moment of that game was when the game finishes 5-1, but I've only seen, you know, I guess dating back to mid-January, because he was in Arizona early a little bit too.

I've only seen the exact same guy every single day out of Jesus, whether he's catching or he's not, or he gets a hit or a home run or he doesn't.

He's literally been the same guy every single day.

So that's kind of why I go with the easy phrase of ballplayer.

I mean, that's kind of one of the things that I mean when I say that.

Would you have Susak in the Dodger series next week?

Could we have him?

Susak, could you have him that early?

That might be a little early.

I think joining the team on that road trip is probably more of a possibility than that.

And again, I'm a day-to-day guy, so whatever we feel our best options are, if we can press that button, great.

There may be something different than what I say happened, but I think probably more just before the end of the road trip is more realistic than the first trip of the road trip.
