Tony, your bullpen has obviously been so good, such a strength, and, and Walker's been right there with, with them.
What'd you see from him today?
Yeah, I mean, you certainly would rather give up a hit than a walk to start off the inning.
But ideally, you know, you get through that thing with e- e- even two hits might get you a round holding a one-run lead.
But, those guys battled, even the strikeout to Marsh.
The at-bats were competitive, and, they did what they needed to do to win.
And, you know, he obviously could've done better, but, has done so in the past, as you mentioned.
Any of your thoughts on Logan's day?
it was phenomenal.
kinda battled through a couple things, in particular, but nonetheless, when he's out there, gutted through, you know, what was an outstanding, outstanding effort and something everyone's typically used to watching him pitch.
And he kinda set the tone for the day that, you know, confident vibe in the dugout all the way up until obviously the end of the game.
So he was outstanding.
You guys had the two hits and three runs off Sanchez in the first inning.
I think it was only a couple from there after s- when, when we changed after the first inning offensively.
Yeah, I, I mean, the vibes were good before the game, and that bled into, you know, the beginning of the game and some good swings, and had a chance for, you know, with their lineup.
It's, the game's never gonna be over, but a little bit of a killing blow.
didn't have that.
And then, you know, after, some of it was walks and, and some scattered hits.
There wasn't a ton of hits, but, we had guys in position.
We just weren't ever again, at that point with a tight game, like I said, I, I don't know that killing blow is the, is the right phrase, but at that point, insurance runs would've been, would've been beneficial.
You mentioned Logan was battling through some things.
Anything in particular?
just, just, you know, fielding his position and, you know, running around.
so he, he did, he did an outstanding job in a lot of different ways.
Was Miller okay when Turner wanted to check on him?
Yeah, that was a little bit of a, you know, little bit of a timeout slash just be sure he was good.
you know, in that case, late in the, late in the game, and same as Webby did on a few plays.
I mean, you got a chance to, you know, keep a guy off base.
You might have to do it PFP-wise, so just making sure he was good.
But he's, he's all good.
Yeah.
and- Jump to starter.
Hauser.
Arraez looked like he was kind of shaking his wrist of the, the same hand where, he got kicked.
Like- Yeah.
But I, but I also think that's a little bit of a habit he does sometimes, too.
So it, it could be one thing or the other, but it's also something I've seen him do, even in the WBC.
I've seen him kinda do that sometimes.
so there, there may be a connection to that, but, I've also kinda seen him do a bunch of stuff, and have been, have even heard him say a couple times, "Don't pay too close attention to what I do."
he's, he's obviously got a very unique presence in the box.
It didn't look like they were really in swing mode, especially against your two-seam.
Did that kind of, adjust your game plan, or how'd you adjust to that going along?
I mean, no.
I, I, going into it, I knew they were a pretty aggressive team.
just had to make my pitches, and, I thought today was a lot better than some of my recent ones.
Kinda, you know, I think the times it did get in was when I was missing over the plate, which has kind of been the problem all season.
And, but I thought for the most part I was, I was doing a lot better job of staying away from that.
Was there anything you changed or were doing differently or had worked on?
No.
It's just I'm just trying to be better, to be honest.
it was, you know, haven't felt far off all season.
you know, actually take away the first game of the season, I feel like I've pitched not as bad as I may tell myself.
But, but I, I know I need to be better, and I thought today was better.
You know, working with the pitching coaches on trying to, you know, find new things or find stuff to make it better, mechanically and pitch grip, a bunch of different things.
And I, you know, just felt good today.
Felt good the last couple days leading into today, so had high expectations of, of what I thought I was gonna do, and, I thought today was a lot better, yeah.
You, you've played with Chapman now for a while.
Yeah.
The play he made, you know, to get the runner home, kind of a tricky backhand play.
Would you think that?
Yeah, I mean, I, I it's kind of expected at this point.
You know, it's, it's fun to watch him play every single day.
and, honestly, he, the guy hit it so hard, I d- didn't even see it and just you have that guy over there, so it's nice.
It's nice to have him on our side.
If you kinda isolate to the calendar month of April, low three ERA, going six at least every start, just how would you evaluate, you know, these last maybe five chunks of outings?
yeah, like, like I said, I, I, I think you asked me last time about being hard on myself.
you know, I, I want to s- keep being hard on myself, and I, I understand that.
And, I wish I could take back the seven-run outing to start the season.
but I can't, so now I just gotta find a way to, keep, keep grinding, keep going through it.
But, I, I definitely think we're going in the right direction, which is good.
But still a, still a lot of work to do, so, but more excited about the last couple than I have been in a while, so.
How, how much did you have to adjust with the game change?
I think honestly, like, in, in a weird way it kind of helped.
I just kinda, I went, went home, and I was like, "All right, I gotta be up early today."
It's, you know, it's 9:35 back home at the start of our game.
So, yeah, just kind of went into it.
I'd done all my scouting stuff before, so it was just like show up and do what you were supposed to do the night before, but, in the morning now, so.
but felt like maybe it helped.
Like, didn't have to think as much.
not the way I wanted to start.
I gave up the, just, like, the, not the pitch you throw to Kyle Schwarber right there, right down the middle.
But, but kinda locked in after that, so.
How's your wrist?
It's fine.
Yeah.
Okay.
Where did it hit you?
You can kind of see it.
Oh, yeah.
Fairly inside.
I'm good now.
