White Sox Power Trio Ties MLB Record With Historic Home Run Display
Munetaka Murakami, Miguel Vargas, and Colson Montgomery made history by each homering in the same game for the fifth time this season.

History for the Chicago White Sox this week.
Friday night in Tampa Bay, a White Sox trio did something that is in Major League Baseball record books.
Munetaka Murakami, Miguel Vargas, Colson Montgomery, that big three, they, reached some milestones earlier this season.
They became the first trio of White Sox teammates to each hit 20 home runs before the All-Star break since 2006, when Jim Thome, Jermaine Dye, and Paul Konerko all did it.
That was history in and of itself.
But on Friday night, they made a little bit more.
Miguel Vargas, a solo home run in the first inning.
Munetaka Murakami, a two-run home run.
Colson Montgomery, a two-run home run.
It was a four homer day that resulted in a 6-1 White Sox victory, and it made some MLB history.
Friday was the fifth time during the 2026 season that Murakami, Vargas, and Montgomery have all hit a home run in the same game.
That ties an MLB record.
The same three teammates all hitting a home run in five different games in the same season.
It's just the tenth time in baseball history that this has been accomplished.
It's the second time in White Sox history that this has been accomplished.
You'd have to go back to '04 with Paul Konerko, Joe Crede, and Jose Valentin to find a White Sox power trio, that has done this in the past.
The last time Major League Baseball saw this was with the Dodgers in 2019, Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson.
All of this started back in April, when three straight games, Vargas, Murakami, Montgomery, all went deep.
That started on April 19th against The Athletics.
That's when the power bats really came alive.
That's when this White Sox team started to find an identity for itself.
So three games in a row.
On April 21st, these three guys hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in Arizona.
May 16th against The Cubs, they did it again in an 8-3 win, a game in which Murakami hit two home runs.
So just kind of goes to show the high ceiling that this White Sox offense has.
You have three guys in Murakami, Vargas, and Montgomery that can take over a game and completely dominate when all of them are swinging it well.
