And we certainly are gonna see a whole lot of the future prospects, starting to come up.
Yankees have, what, George, Lombard Jr. Coming up here.
I've seen a few teams now that are, hey, making room for those, the future generation players.
I- i- is it usually September, or is right around the time where we're gonna start to see a lot of this for teams to see what they have moving forward?
Well, some, some of the teams that are, are out of it will start to call up guys now if they, if they want to.
But it's, it's a little bit dicey now because for teams that are out of it, Joe, because of the looming lockout- any player that is called up now, and we'll use, like, Max Clark on Detroit as an example, because Max Clark- has been called up.
If there's a lockout and now he's on the 40 man, next season he can't report to minor league spring training and essentially play in spring training for the Tigers next season.
Interesting.
So I, I don't think- you're gonna see a lot of this happen.
Now, in the old days, September 1st used to come and then you could have- 70 guys on your team.
That doesn't exist anymore.
You can only add three, and that's it.
That's the maximum you can do.
And so I, I do think you'll see some of that.
But the Yankees, Joe, I mean, come on, that's like a different planet, right, that they're dealing with- Right with others.
They're, they're playing right now to win.
They could care less what's gonna happen in five months with this lockout.
Lombard's coming up to help them win right now.
They've obviously punted Volpe.
That's it.
You know, that guy, I think is le- he'll be somewhere else next season.
Yeah.
That's, it's the end of the line for him there.
Probably for Jason Dominguez too, who they sent down.
But, a lot of pressure on, on, on George Lombard.
I've seen him grow up.
I've known his dad- and his mom for a really long time.
I worked with his mom for almost 10 years here in South Florida on TV, and his dad, George, I've known very, very well from when he was a player to now when he was a coach.
His, other brother, George's other brother, Jacob Lombard, was just drafted by the Marlins, ironically, with the 14th overall pick.
So I know that family real well.
They, they I mean, George Jr. Will not be caught up in the moment, I know that.
I mean, he c- he's even-keeled kid, and that's the way that the background is.
But still, I mean, the lights are on big anytime there.
Yep.
So, y- you, you never know.
But I, I think in particular for me, it's, the, the, the pitching debut, you know?
I mean, Skubal, Peralta, like tho- those are the ones- Yep I think that we'll have a close eye on tonight.
