Pre-Kindergarten
PreK is a full-day program that primarily serves income-eligible children who are four years old by September 30. There are limited spaces available in select schools for children who are three years old by September 30.
If your family qualifies for free or reduced school lunch or you are currently receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, you are eligible to apply. Enrollment is based on need; it is not based on a first-come, first-served basis.
The FCPS Early Childhood Curriculum helps children explore who they are through hands-on, integrated learning. Each quarter builds on students’ understanding of self:
- Q1 – Who I Am:Self-awareness, rules/routines, seasonal changes
- Q2 – Who I Am in My Family:Family, culture, home connections
- Q3 – Who I Am in the Community:Community roles, geography, economics
- Q4 – Who I Am in the World:Life cycles, natural resources, global awareness

Preschool Autism Class (PAC)
In Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), Preschool Autism Class (PAC) services are designed to address the specific needs of preschool-age children who have been identified as having Autism Spectrum Disorder or present characteristics on the autism spectrum, and who cannot benefit from the early childhood class-based program.
