Choose Your Event
Select a fun, safe, and inclusive walking or biking activity and decide on a theme.

Build Your Team
Form a planning team and recruit event-day volunteers to assist with setup, guiding students, and supporting the event.

Promote Your Event
Spread the word using newsletters, signs, social media, and conversations in the community.You can also contact SRTS to have your event featured on the FCPS Safe Routes social media pages (@fcpssaferoutes on Facebook, Instagram, and X).

Execute Your Event
Have fun and emphasize safety! Engage students with prizes, music, and creative activities.

Follow Up
Thank students and volunteers after the event. Remind everyone why the event matters and encourage continued safe, active transportation to school.

Use your event as momentum to encourage students to get to school safely by walking, biking, or rolling. Start small with a few events each year, and grow to monthly or weekly activities over time.
