The Da Vinci CodeAuthor: Dan BrownNarrator: Paul MichaelUnabridged Fiction | Abridged edition availableAudio Length: 15 hours and 53 min.Got at:audible.comReading revel at SSS:9Total words:138,216 wordsReading speed:naturalRecommendation rate:★★★(synopsis)At mid night at Musee du Louvre, a curator Jack Souniere was murdered. In fifteen minutes before dying, he remained dying messages on the floor around him.Examining the messages, cryptographer Sophie Neveu, the grand daughter of Souniere, realized that the messages was head to her. Within the messages written the phrase "Meet Robert Langdon"!*******To get some listening materials on fright to USA and Colombia, I became a premium listener of Audible.com, and downloaded this as one of first books.#Though, I fell in sleep in the plane as soon as turning MP3 device on that I could not hear bit of the story….*******This is so major story titled "The Da Vinci Code".On each end of the sections, there were big surprise and could not stop listening further. In these day's mystery novels, it is considered that the victim remaining dying message is unnatural: why not write murderer's name directly, if you are injured and soon be dead! But author Dan Brown gave 15 minutes before victim to die, and create the situation that he has to remain not the murderer's name but the secret of his family to his grand daughter, who is good at cryptograph, but totally ignorant about family's secret to rationalize dying messages. The riddle given by the author is very sophisticated and artistic. I would like to read the related books as "Da Vinci Code Decoded" or "The truth behind the Da Vinci Code".# To my research, the basic theory is not the original of Dan Brown, though.********This was my first experience to hear a novel only by listening, but narrator reads French character with French accent, English character with UK accent and every character has each impersonation, that at some point, it was easier to understand by listening than by reading.Add to this, thanks to listening French accent and French line, I at last realized how to pronounce "rendezvous", which appeared several times in the other book I'm reading now.On the contrary, it was difficult to figure the character or number code used in the book, passage with mirror writing.Reading speed in natural (not so fast) and text is not so difficult.

Oh, this hay fever distracts mefrom every intelligent activity, prevents from my action of humanity.Tears come down in sheets, runny nose falling in torrents.Eyes puffed up to strawberry, rips inflamed to boloney.Sneeze never seems to meet the coda.Abominable is not a cedar, despicable is a weather.Thou shalt not complain, says sage, though sage shall not suffer from pollen.Oh, this hay fever, reads me to purgatorial sufferings.May someone preserve me from symptoms.

In London last week, the labor ministers of the Group eight of leading powers concentrated their discussions on adapting labor markets to an aging workforce. The postwar baby-boom generation, born around 1950, is in its mid-50s, just the age when employment rates in advanced economies tend to drop. Unless this generation bucks the trend, with many more continuing to work well beyond 60s, the burden of their pensions and healthcare for the rest of the population will rise faster than many economies can bear.Policies to encourage greater labor market participation among older workers are therefore all the rage among labor ministers. In Japan, more than 62% people between the ages of 55 and 64 are still in work. This is higher than EU, whose figures are 42%.One reason, to Europe's relatively poor performance in keeping older workers in jobs, is that European pensions systems provide too great an incentive for early retirement and too few reasons for continuing in work.Though the higher late of older workers, Japan is also suffering from burdens of their pensions and healthcare. So, Japan is also struggling to rehire the retired workers, postpone the mandate retirement and postpone the pension eligibility age, but the pension problem seems not to be solved. One difficulty for keeping older workers at working is the custom of seniority based salary system, which prevent companies from hiring elder workers.Japanese salary system use to be based on seniority. This means that companies have to pay more to elder workers, which boost companies' employment cost in hiring elder workers. Older workers also consider themselves as senior staff that they could not bear working under younger boss or lower wages than before.Add to this, due to low rate of those who do not pay national pension premiums and downward trend in the birthrate, Japanese pension system is near-bankruptcy.We have to change our mind from seniority salary system and seek for more flexible work system.

"The Vanished Man" by Jeffery Deaver(Assumed YL:8 Assumed words:156,000 Reading time:13hrs Total words:5,448,924 )The fourth Lincoln Rhyme series novel by Jeffery Deaver. The criminal this time is an illusionist, who can be a man or woman, young or old.It could vanish behind the locked doors or emerge in blind alley.I felt the scent of "Kaijin 20 mensou" by Edogawa Ranpo. To illusionist, Rhyme's forensic investigation put up a bad fight: it is difficult to distinguish which evidence is planted or left behind in caress. The conjuror escapes as soon as captured, assumed motive changed again and again. If you are a fun of Lincoln Rhyme series, don't miss it!

Today, I was very much impressed by US people's hospitability and professionalism.I was to move to Cali, Colombia, today. My flight was to departure at 10:10 to Miami, then connecting flight to Cali departure at 16:15. But it was snowing heavy this morning. And at 9:45, the scheduled boarding time 9:40 started to delay; first to 12:30, then to 13:00 and then at last it was cancelled!!I consulted a ground attendance at counter, and she done her best to change my flight to the flight departure at 12:35. This flight is scheduled to arrive at Miami at 15:00, so I had approx. 1 hour to connect flight. She also tried her best to collect my baggage and made new tag through from Washington DC to Cali, because I had no time to pick up my baggage at Miami and check in again. I thanked her a lot and had a seat at the cabin. But when I arrived at Miami, it was 15:35, 30 minutes of delay. I hurried to connecting counter, but it was 15:48 and a ground attendant there told me that check in is already closed at 15:45.I spoke to him that the flight from Washington DC was delayed and my baggage is going through to Cali, so if he could do anything for me.And here again, he tried very hard to get boarding ticked at the counter inside the secure zone, and spoke to security guard to let me go fast to the boarding bridge. Thanks to the lady at the Washington DC airport counter, my baggage is already loaded on the carriage, which I confirmed at the boarding counter, and thanks to the gentleman at the Miami airport counter, I was on board on the planned flight. I appreciate every effort they pay for me.I think US is growing their hospitality and professionalism further these days.I was so impressed by their way of doing their job and hospitality.I tend to like USA.

Hi, Every one!I'm now at Washington D.C for business trip.Despite the anticipated cold weather, it is very warm and nice here.I had several meetings today, and I realized improvement of my English speaking ability!!Thanks to my everyday studying! The study which most contribute to this progress, I think, is writing blog here, based on many inputs with reading books and listening radio and audio books.I was realizing my writing English was getting very frequent these days; the speed of writing is getting faster and faster. And today, I realized my speaking English is getting very frequent; my speaking speed was near to US counterparts!Though the wording is not perfect at all, sometimes I had to seek for appropriate words during speaking, but it is getting much better.I was very happy today to find my progress in English speaking.

When I first heard of suing McDonald of causing obese, I thought "What an American incident". Bunt after considering background of obese, I start thinking that some thing should be done to regulate junk food ads and selling to children. It is said that about 30 percent of American citizens can be considered obese. This is not that those citizens are incapable of controlling their appetite but that they are the victims of junk food companies' commercialism.Think of Tobacco case. At first many thought it is ridiculous to sue tobacco companies of causing tobacco related diseases, because it is their free will to chose smoking and they should have free will to quit smoking. But see what's going on now. Tobacco ads are banned, smoking is inhibited in closed area and bending machines are removed. This is mainly to protect children from tobacco addiction.Almost 90% of smokers start smoking in their teenage, even some start smoking when they are under 10. Tobacco companies said their ads are not aiming at youth, but it is clear that seeing cool ads of tobacco, youngsters thought it is cool to smoke. There were so many bending machines around school. They could buy tobacco with no difficulty. At first smoke, they think they can quit smoking any time with this disgusting taste. But in truth, it is the start of addiction. Every body must be positive how difficult to quit smoking. Some considers that tobacco companies have to keep new children to start smoking as new customers because in consequence of long time smoking, adult customers are dying of cancer. Then think about junk foods. You might think it is customers' free will to choose what to eat. If you don't want to be obese, just don't eat so many junk foods. But is it true? Do children have adequate information and containment to control what to eat? If there are vending machines selling carbonated beverage in school, can they ignore it and choose healthier drink? Are they wise enough not to be charmed by toys McDonald offer with happy set? Is not true that junk food companies target their ads to children to make them eat junk foods habitually before they get enough information and containment about what to eat?Now can you declare with full confidence that it is customers' free will to choose what to eat?Junk food companies are now very dangerous circumstances. But I wish if they take this as a chance to grab share in healthier food market.

The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness (Unabridged)Author: Stephen R. CoveyNarrator: Stephen R. CoveyUnabridged Nonfiction Audio Length: 14 hours and 19 min.Got at:audible.comSupposed reading revel: 7Reading speed: slowRecommendation rate:★★★★☆As I was quite influenced by "The 7 habits", the previous book of "The 8th Habit", I decided to download this program as a first audio book download from audible.com.#The first program purchased at audible.com is offered by $9.95."The 8th Habit" is aiming at world's effectiveness, upon a basis of "The 7 habits'" personal effectiveness. In first listening, I thought this book is for them who want to be a world's great reader. But when I start listening for the second time, I realized that it says, "every people who are parents could be the best parents for their child", "find the needs, burn your passion, discipline your self and obey the conscience to be best parents of your child." * may not be the exact recitationWhen I finished listening the fist time, I thought it is too difficult for me, who am not yet satisfying the 7 habits. Though, in reviewing my values and missions on fist Monday of the month, I start feeling my values and missions are too primitive. For while I would like to keep "find my voice" in my mind. The reason of four-star recommendation is that it is not completed just by listening to audio book, it insists me to see the DVD attached to the book, and many of the content are overview of "The 7 habits".
