It seems that Tenkei, a Hainanese chicken rice place I used to visit from time to time, will be closing by the end of the year. There was a small, unobtrusive notice posted near the exit, so I didn’t notice it at first.
The exterior and interior both had a rather deep—almost gritty—atmosphere, but the flavors themselves weren’t overly sharp or challenging. Dishes like the chicken soba were perfectly enjoyable. Above all, the prices were very reasonable.
Jinbocho may be famous for curry, but there aren’t many Thai or Singaporean restaurants, and those located south of Jinbocho Station tend to be quite expensive across the board. In that sense, this place—where you could still have lunch for under 1,000 yen—was a rare find.
