Last year, I purchased two basic lucky bags from Ukiuki: a ¥15,000 set with 10 red and white wines and a ¥10,000 set with 6 bottles. The overall lineup was underwhelming. The most expensive wine was Château Coupe-de-Fougères, special cuvée La Moulière, priced at over ¥5,000 by Ukiuki, but unfortunately it was not enjoyable at all. On paper, the total value may have looked attractive, but the actual drinking experience was disappointing.
Hoping for better results, I upgraded this year and ordered two higher-tier sets: a ¥33,000 set with 10 bottles and a ¥16,000 set with 6 bottles. The first delivery, however, turned into a nightmare—the same Château Coupe-de-Fougères La Moulière appeared again. The other wines in the set were as follows: Chablis 2024 (Chablisienne) being included almost every year and is decent Barolo 2021 (Fontanafredda) solid but unexciting as I had recently drunk another vintage Pouilly-Fuissé 2022 (Famille Cordier) genuinely good despite the brand being rather low-profile. Désiré Lush & Gin Chardonnay–Fiano 2024 from Puglia, an unfamiliar producer Crozes-Hermitage 2022 (Léon Perdigal) also new to me.
