Bass-baritone Nikitin (early June): "I wish I would have never done"

衝撃のニュースです。
バイロイト開幕5日前に新制作のプロダクションのタイトルロールが降板を余儀なくさせられました。
エフゲニー・ニキーチンが過去に入れていたタトゥーが問題となったのです。
現在は別のタトゥーで塗りつぶされていますが、そこにナチの入れ墨があったということでバイロイト音楽祭側としては過去のことであっても容認できないと判断したようです。
これはニキーチンのファンとしては個人的には悲しいことですが、音楽祭側の判断としては最終的には｢正しい」と言わざるをえません。
過去のバイロイト音楽祭の忌まわしい歴史を少しでも知っていれば、それが｢正しい判断」であるとわかるはずです。
しかし事前にこういったことは音楽祭側がリサーチしておくべきことであり、音楽祭側の脇の甘さが露呈したということになるでしょう。
まだ若い才能ある歌手に立ち直れないほどの傷を結果的に負わせてしまったことになるのですから。

今回の旅でこんなことがありました。

ドイツ在住の日本人に私がバイロイト音楽祭のことを聞いたりしていたら、
彼がこういうことを言い出しました。
ドイツ人は忘れていないんだ。
ドイツではまだ終わっていないんだ。
だから収容所も保存している。
日本人の観光客はドイツの表面しか見ていない。
彼は音楽ファンではないらしく、日本人が過去のことを「もう終わったこと」として足繁くバイロイト音楽祭を訪れることを快く思っていなかったのかもしれません。
日本ではもう戦争のことは終わったこととして片付けられている。
そして原発問題ももう終わったこととして次の段階へ行こうとしている。
ドイツ人やドイツに住む人には日本の「原発再稼働」がどうしても理解し難いものであったようです。
ドイツ人は過去の傷を「終わったこと」とせずに常に思い返す作業を自らへの戒めのように科しているようです。それはキリスト教の影響もあるのでしょうが。
