A lunch set with yakiniku and pork fillet cutlet costs only 1,100 yen. I ordered the chicken cutlet with tartar sauce, which was under 1,000 yen including tax. When you get off at Tsukiji Station, Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple is right there in front of you. It has a very unique and oriental atmosphere, quite different from typical Japanese temples. The architecture feels inspired by Indian style, giving the place an open and calm mood.I stopped by Tsukiji Hongwanji to pray for a short while. The wide space and gentle air make it a nice place to slow down and reset your mind, even if you are in the middle of the city.After visiting the temple, I moved on to Shimbashi for lunch. I went to an Indian restaurant called Chandrama, located inside the New Shimbashi Building, very close to Shimbashi Station. It is easy to access, but it feels like a hidden spot.I ordered a lunch set and upgraded to cheese naan by paying a small additional fee. The food was very tasty, and the staff were kind and welcoming. We were not very hungry, so we ordered the five-skewer yakitori assortment and Torigin’s signature chicken kamameshi. The prices are very reasonable, but the quality is surprisingly high. The chicken is fresh, tender, and juicy. The kamameshi is cooked from raw rice after the order is placed, so it arrives hot, fragrant, and perfectly steamed.It is the kind of restaurant you choose when you want a light meal but still want something truly delicious. A Day in Shimbashi: Tonkatsu Curry & Soba Dinner
Today I found a hidden place in Shimbashi — Tonkatsu Aoki, located on the first floor of the Shimbashi New Building. Official website hereI ordered the Roast Tonkatsu Curry (¥1,300). The place has that nostalgic, old-style Japanese restaurant vibe, where you buy a meal ticket from a vending machine and hand it to the staff. Luckily, I only had to wait about five minutes before getting a seat.The curry came with finely shredded cabbage and a thick, juicy tonkatsu on top. The curry itself was mild — I personally wished for a bit more spice! The pork cutlet was thick and tender; it might actually go best with just salt, though of course the traditional sauce and mustard work well too.In the evening, I stopped by Sagatani, a soba shop near Shimbashi Station.I had the Zaru Soba and Oyako-don set for ¥880.The soba is made from 100% buckwheat, slightly firm, just how I like it. Today I went to a clinic in Tsukiji, and afterward I stopped by Sushi Zanmai for lunch. There was also chawan-mushi (steamed egg) included, and they served hot green tea without asking. Everything felt generous and thoughtful.There is also a 980 yen lunch set, which is the cheapest option, and I’m sure it would still be satisfying—especially for someone who doesn’t want a big meal. But choosing the 1,500 yen set was absolutely the right decision. The omuraisu was soft and creamy, and the hamburger steak was juicy and flavorful. It’s a perfect choice if you want to try both of their specialties.After lunch, I walked toward the Shiodome side and stopped by Ogawaken to buy one of my favorite souvenirs: Raisin Witch cookies.A box of 10 pieces costs around 1,400 yen. They need to be refrigerated and the shelf life is about 6 days. These cookies make a great gift—they’re elegant but not too fancy, and everyone seems to love them.They also have a café there. The atmosphere is strict and quiet, so it’s not a place for long conversations, but the cakes and coffee are truly excellent. It has almost become a ritual: arrive at Takamatsu Airport → drive straight to Yamagoe → start my trip with real Sanuki udon. No exceptions.Even though Yamagoe is very well-known, the atmosphere is warm, simple, and authentic. What I especially love is that they never rely on their fame. They keep improving and refining the taste, instead of becoming lazy or proud of being a “famous shop.” Recently, the tempura is fried fresh in the shop, and you can feel the upgrade immediately — crispier, lighter, and just right.One small personal story: the owner, a friendly woman, always remembers my father. Every time we visit, she greets him personally. She never calls out to everyone — only to regulars she truly recognizes. That tiny gesture makes the experience feel even more special. It’s not just food — it feels like coming home.The udon itself is smooth, chewy, and filling. Prices are very reasonable, starting around 300 yen per bowl. Many people recommend their popular kamatama udon (fresh udon with raw egg), but my personal favorite is simple — kake udon. Just noodles and broth… and that’s enough. A Day at Mitsumine Shrine — One of Kanto’s Most Powerful Spiritual Sites
Visiting Mitsumine Shrine, one of the most famous power spots in the Kanto region, was a special experience for me. The shrine is located deep in the mountains of Saitama Prefecture and is protected not by fox spirits but by wolf guardians called okami. This gives the whole place a wild and ancient feeling. I visited to receive a wolf talisman and took part in a formal prayer ceremony. Inside the main hall it was very quiet, and I could almost only hear the wind from the mountains. When I held the blessed talisman in my hands, I felt as if I was being gently protected by nature and by something very old. If you visit Mitsumine Shrine, it is better to avoid Saturdays and Sundays because they are extremely crowded and the parking lots and buses fill up quickly. The road to the shrine is long and winding, so people who get carsick should be careful, and the air on the mountain is much colder than in the city, so warm clothing is important. Even with these challenges, I think the shrine is worth the effort. A Mini Trip to Kamakura – Riding the Enoden 鎌倉小旅行 江ノ電
This spring, I took a short trip to Kamakura with a friend, and it was such a lovely escape from the city. Kamakura is a historic coastal town just an hour or so from Tokyo, and it's famous for its beautiful temples, beaches... and the Enoden!The Enoden (short for Enoshima Electric Railway) is a charming little train that runs from Kamakura to Fujisawa. It's not just a way to get around – it's part of the experience. The train is small, vintage-looking, and runs so close to the houses and streets that it feels like you're inside a Ghibli movie or a classic manga scene. Seriously, you’ve probably seen it in anime without even realizing it!かいひん荘鎌倉There were a lot of tourists, especially around the more popular stops like Hase and Enoshima, but that just added to the fun atmosphere. Everyone seemed excited to be there, snapping photos and enjoying the ride.If you're ever in Japan and want a mix of history, nature, and a touch of nostalgia, I really recommend riding the Enoden. My Favorite Okonomiyaki at Narita Airport ＠ぼでぢゆう 成田空港
I often fly in and out of Narita Airport since I spend time with my family every month. Every time I go, I wonder what to eat. This time I want to introduce a great place called Botejyu which serves Osaka-style okonomiyaki.Since I am from western Japan I really love okonomiyaki. On this day I had a "modern-yaki" which includes yakisoba noodles inside the pancake. It was absolutely amazing. The sauce and mayo are just perfect and the noodles make it really satisfying.If you ever visit Terminal 3 at Narita Airport I highly recommend trying their okonomiyaki.I will post two photos below one of the restaurant and one of the dish

Today, I'd like to introduce you to the islands of Kagawa. Kagawa is a beautiful prefecture located in Shikoku, facing the Seto Inland Sea. Because of its location, Kagawa is blessed with numerous islands. These islands are easily accessible by small ferries, so when you visit Kagawa, make sure to explore at least one of them!The island I'm featuring today is called Honjima, a small but charming island. It's just a 20-minute ferry ride from Marugame Port. As you sail across, you'll be treated to stunning views of the sea and the Seto Ohashi Bridge, giving you a taste of a tropical island getaway.One thing to note about Honjima is that many of its tourist attractions are only open on Saturdays. Unfortunately, I visited on a Thursday, so some famous spots like the unique post office were closed.However, the moment I set foot on the island, I could feel an incredible energy from the earth beneath my feet.There's a large Tenrikyo (a Japanese religion) facility on the island, which might contribute to this powerful atmosphere. I also came across some ancient stone monuments, allowing me to connect with the island's rich history.Although I only had an hour and a half to spend on Honjima due to time constraints, it was enough to recharge my batteries. Even in such a short visit, I felt rejuvenated by the island's natural power.This little adventure to Honjima was a delightful experience, showcasing the hidden treasures that Kagawa's islands have to offer. I was worried that they might bring up the topic of voluntary retirement again - they've been quite persistent about it. However, to my surprise, I was assigned two ongoing projects for next year. While I can't say for certain that I'm no longer a target for voluntary retirement, there was definitely a noticeable change in my boss's attitude.I want to tell everyone: if you're working in Japan and become a target for voluntary retirement, power harassment, or bullying, join a labor union immediately! In Japan, as long as you're working normally, employees can't be easily fired. However, this might not apply if you're not a member of a labor union. There are many companies trying to take advantage of uninformed people. I believe joining a labor union with lawyers knowledgeable in labor law is one of the best ways to fight against unfair treatment by companies.Now, onto the main topic!Today, I'm introducing Kagawa's soul food, Sanuki udon. I visited a super-famous shop called Gamou Udon, which always ranks first or second in Kagawa's udon rankings. The restaurant operates out of a regular house, giving it a unique and charming atmosphere. Don't you think?The udon starts from just 180 yen, and tempura is 120 yen. It's one of the cheapest places in Kagawa, yet the taste is top-notch. As it's a popular spot, the udon is always freshly boiled. You know how fresh things always taste better, right? That's why. Plus, the broth is superb, with an excellent flavoring of dried sardines.This udon has a light taste, so make sure to add some tempura on top. The combination of the tempura oil and the udon creates an amazing flavor. When you receive your boiled udon, you add the broth, green onions, and ginger yourself. It's quite exciting!It gets extremely crowded around lunchtime, and there's a possibility they might sell out. The haircut usually takes about 10-20 minutes, making it a convenient option.When ordering, it's helpful to show a picture of the hairstyle you want. I used to go to fancy hair salons, but after moving to Chiba, it became difficult to travel to Tokyo for haircuts. So, I started using these 1000-yen haircut services.For simple hairstyles (like trimming 2cm off the length or reducing overall volume), they work perfectly fine and give you a neat cut. It's already October.I got an offer from my boss to introduce to a recruiter, just like the lay off manual I've heard they make at the company.I knew that I was vulnerable to get laid off because I was a transfer from a company that was merged into my current company, but I felt really bad when I was actually told that.Moreover, my boss laughed and told me that there was no position for you anymore and that I should definitely work for another company!
