☆11月9日レポート

１）日時：11月9日（日）14:00から16:00 場所： 市民情報交流センター(ナバリエ2階) ２）今回の参加者：13名（日本人9名）（以下順不同、トモ、ユミコ、エイコ、ルイス、ミユキ、トヨミ、カヨコ、メグミ、トオル、ファビィ、デビィ、ユウジ、ロビン) 。 ３）主な話題：日本語・英語など複数の言葉を話す時、使う言語によって性格が変わるかについて。 今回はユウジさんの紹介で、新たに3名の外国人の方が来て下さいました。ロビン(ベルギー)、ファビィ(フランス)、デビィ(イタリア)。この方々は、数週間に名張に来てボランティアとして森林を守る活動を赤目でされているそうです。 •••ディスカッション••• ブログの著者は、E7の皆さんが英語・日本語を話しているとき性格が変わらないということに少しショックを受けました。 日本語でも英語でも性格は変わらず、全く関係ないということです。 ということは、著者は大丈夫なのでしょうか。うーん。もっと自問自答するべきなのかもしれません。 このブログの著者は、以下に書こうとすることについて出席した皆さんがほぼ忘れていることを承知していますが、出席した際にはっきりといえなかったので、この場を借りてはっきりと書いてみたいと思います。それは、「イタリア」という国名の由来についてです。 この名前は、ユリウス・カエサルがまだ幼い子供だった頃の(また、彼のおじが関わっている)1世紀B.Cに勃発した内戦（91-88B.C.に起きた「同盟市戦争」)で出てきます。 ローマが、イタリア半島に存在するローマの同盟者対し、ローマと同等のローマ市民権を与えないと判明したとき、同盟者はローマに反発し、一世紀以上の同盟から離脱した。そして、同盟者同士は新国家を建国し、それを「イタリア」と名づけた。 内戦は、ローマが同盟者に完全なるローマ市民権を与えるとする法律を成立することで終わり、「イタリア」という名前は歴史から消えました。 しかし、いろいろな資料(例えば塩野七海氏の『ローマ人の物語』など)によると、この「イタリア」という名前は、近代国家イタリアが形成される歴史の中で現れてくることになります。 …ということを著者は言いたかったのですが、残念ながらうまく言えず、きちんと伝えることができませんでした。 話題としてもあまりにも専門的で、難しすぎました。 途中から会館の職員さん？が来られて、絵馬、日本三大仇討ちの話を外国人の方にしてほしいと言われ、E7のメンバーで悩みながら頑張って英語で説明をしました。 他は外国人の方の日本に関するするどい質問などいろいろ話題がありましたが、説明が難しかったり、あまりにもデリケートな内容で、なかなか難しい二時間でした。 初めて来た外国人の方3名は、E7に参加してみて名張で英語が話せる日本人の方がこんなにいるなんて驚いた、今日色々なことを話せて楽しかった、と喜んで下さいました。 トモ ＆ ユウジ 1）Time: 14:00 - 16:00 on Sunday November 9th 2014, Place: At Nabarie, the next building to Daisan Bank at Nabari station. 2）Attending members： 13 people (9 Japanese）（Tomo, Yumiko, Eiko, Louis, Miyuki, Toyomi, Kayoko, Megumi, Toru, Fabby, Debby, Yuji, Robin 3)The main but not the only topic for the session was whether speaking another language give personality change. Yuji invited new people to E7. Fabby(France), Debby(Italy), Robin(Belgium). They are a member of the volunteer group in Akame. They came to Nabari few weeks ago. The writer of the blog was a little shocked to find that speaking another language didn't give members of E7 personality change; they were the same person when they speak English or Japanese. Does that make me insane? I don't know. I have to find out myself. While the writer of the blog realizes most of the attending members have forgotten what I'm about to write, the writer wants to clarify about one thing the writer talked about during the session: the origin of the country name, "italia." The name comes up in the civil war that broke out during first century B.C.(it's called "The Social Wars from 91 - 88B.C."), at the time when Julius Cesear was still a little child (his uncle played a major role in the war). When Rome did not give full citizenship equality to the surrounding allies in the Italian peninsula, the allies decided to rebel, and the allies seceded from the centruy old alliance. The allies formed their own country and they named the new country "italia." The civil war ended when Rome passed the law that gave the allies ful citizenship, and the name "italia" disappeared. But sources (such as the novel "The story of Romans" by Nanami Shiono) say the name "Italia" comes up later in the history during the formation of the modern state of Italy ...That's what the writer wanted to talk about! Unfortunately the writer was also a terrible and horrible speaker; so the writer couldn't successfully communicate the topic. The writer also admits that it was too technical and difficult to talk about. Other topics discussed in the session include ema, votive tablete that literally mean in Japanese, picture of horse, three biggest acts of revenge in Japan, and a very good question about Japan raised by one of the attending members. For some topic, it's so hard to explain the subject while for others, the subject matter was very sensitive. Tomo & Yuji -------------------------------
