Inside a Grand $16 Million Houston Mansion With European-Inspired Gardens
As the saying goes, everything's bigger in Texas. And this $16 million Houston estate seems to live up to that statement.
Spanning more than 11,000 square feet, the imposing villa property leaves an impression from the moment you pass through the curlicued wrought-iron entry gates, thanks to the Italian-inspired formal gardens that grace the front and back of the property. The interior, meanwhile, pops with glamorous jewel-toned colors, geometric patterns, and creative uses of premium materials courtesy of Moxie Interiors , which has done a stand-up job updating the grand mansion that was built back in 1952. Dee Dee Guggenheim Howes at Compass holds the listing .

The lacquered kitchen includes a breakfast nook adjacent to the custom wine room.
Luxe wallcoverings and lacquered finishes adorn the formal entertaining spaces, with the foyer and the kitchen both sporting custom-cut marble slab flooring in eye-catching non-uniform geometric patterns. Fireplaces are found in both of the elegantly appointed formal living and dining rooms, while a vast, neutral-toned great room is anchored by a backlit onyx bar, bringing in a touch of Art Deco energy. A more casual dining area sits within the black-lacquered kitchen alongside a glass wall separating it from a spacious wine room with custom, honeycomb-shaped bottle storage cubbies.
When it comes time to rest your head, the property sports six bedrooms in total. The primary suite features a marble-wrapped fireplace and a retractable projection screen for when you feel like watching a movie. Dual bathrooms and custom closets round out the sumptuous retreat. The other bedrooms are more colorful, with one wrapped in emerald walls and another topped off by an orange ceiling. A separate guest suite has its own private entrance and kitchenette.
The upstairs games lounge include a kitchenette.
Elsewhere are a gym with a steam room and a sprawling game room covered entirely in geometric wallpaper—even on the ceiling. With several discrete seating areas, this second-floor room could be converted into another self-contained guest suite, as it also includes a kitchenette with marble countertops.
Outside, there's a covered patio with a summer kitchen and a pool with a mosaic-tiled spa smack dab in the center. The artistically landscaped gardens, meanwhile, are built around a fountain imported from Europe.
The stately abode is one of many European-inspired mansions in the neighborhood. An estate taking cues from the English countryside was listed last year for $18 million, and a chateau-style property became Houston's most expensive sale in 2024 when it was scooped up in December for about $24.8 million.
