Dove Launches Its First-Ever Fine Fragrance in a Familiar Scent

Dove is giving the people what they want!
The shower and self-care brand has bottled the simple, clean scent of its Original Beauty Bar in its very first fine fragrance, Dove announced on Thursday, Oct. 22. Meant to evoke the ambiance of "your mom's shower, a warm hug from your best friend [or] your morning routine," the limited-edition perfume will be available on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
According to the personal care brand, "Dove lovers have been asking for years to bottle the scent as a fragrance," prompting the company to meet that demand with the Dove Original Fragrance, "the only fragrance you know before you even smell it."

Developed with Ann Gottlieb — who has previously worked on iconic scents for Calvin Klein, Dior, Marc Jacobs and Estée Lauder — the new perfume "takes the scent beyond the shower" with "soft, clean and comforting" aromas, per the release.
"The most memorable fragrances make us feel something, and Dove Original Fragrance does exactly that. Its signature scent is instantly recognizable, with a sense of freshness, familiarity and comfort that has resonated for generations," Gottlieb said in a statement.
"Translating it into a fine fragrance is a celebration of what has made the scent so enduring," she added, "while giving its biggest fans a new way to experience it."
While the formula captures Dove's most recognizable scent, the bottle and even the price pay tribute to the brand's history.

The shape of the scent's bottle should be familiar to longtime Dove consumers, as it takes on the curvature of the Dove Original Beauty Bar, while its cap bears a sculptural gold Dove.
The "special, community price" of $19.57 is a nod to the initial launch of the Dove Original Beauty Bar in 1957.
The waitlist for Dove Original Fragrance is now open at dovefragrance.com . The fragrance goes on sale starting Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.
