Simple, barely-there nails are having a major moment both on and off the red carpet. Stars including Pamela Anderson , Maisie Williams and Kaia Gerber have all opted for neutral beige manicures in recent months, while Hailey Bieber , who's a regular when it comes to punchy hues and glazed effects , opted for an almost clear finish for a recent wedding-guest manicure.

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have followed suit: at the premiere of Practical Magic 2 in Los Angeles, the duo offset their bewitching black outfits with elegant, ultra-minimalist nails. Letting her Versace ensemble (with Manolo Blahnik shoes) take center stage, Kidman went with a natural, soft rose tone by Thuy Nguyen on neatly trimmed nail beds for a your-nails-but-better effect. Meanwhile, Bullock opted for a subtle French manicure with a flesh-toned base and square tips to complement her sharp Louis Vuitton dress.

"I love the look of immaculate, clean, and groomed nails because it speaks to understated elegance and attention to detail," manicurist Sabrina Gayle previously told Bazaar . "There is something so satisfying about a perfectly shaped nail, a clean cuticle line, and a flawless finish. It's minimal with an impact, allowing the natural beauty of the hands to shine through."

Gayle is a big fan of Kure Bazaar's French Rose , Rose Milk, and Rose Pearl for a pearlescent finish, while Manicurist's Glow range simply enhances the natural nails. According to her, nailing the minimalist look is all about spending time on the details. "[It requires] perfect nail prep, including buffing, cuticle removal, and smoothing ridges, and a focus on the nail shape. Choose elegant shapes such as almond, oval, or short squoval (square with rounded edges) to give a more graceful appearance to the fingers," she suggests.

Going back to basics with your nails has never felt so on-trend.
