Elle Fanning’s ‘Pink Chiffon’ Manicure Is a Fresh Take on Neutral Nails

Elle Fanning knows how to make a daring statement. This week, the actress attended a fan screening of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping in London, channeling her character, Effie Trinket, in an all-pink ensemble, which included a ballerina headpiece. And it didn't end at her clothes—Fanning also sported pink lipstick, tons of rosy blush, and an ultra-reflective blush-toned manicure . The nails, which we're dubbing "pink chiffon," complemented her overall ensemble perfectly.
"The base is a translucent pink that allows some of the natural nail to show through, creating a soft, delicate appearance," says Sandra Wei, founder of Peach Bling , a nail salon in New York City. "A layer of pearl chrome adds an iridescent sheen, giving the nails a luminous finish without the highly reflective, mirror-like effect of traditional metallic chrome."

Celebrity nail artist Bana Jarjour says that the nail shape adds to the overall aesthetic. "A short, square shape with rounded corners signifies a no-fuss manicure that looks clean and put together, and fast," he says.
"To re-create [it], ask for a transparent pinkish-nude base with a fine pearl chrome powder on top," says Wei. "A translucent shade with a soft pink or neutral undertone will create the most natural effect." If you want to try the look at home, opt for a transparent pink polish and top it with a top coat that has subtle shimmer. It doesn't hurt to match your pink chiffon nails with a rosy blush or fuchsia lipstick like Fanning, either.
