Halloween Nail Art Doesn’t Have to Be Cheesy—These 14 Minimalist Ideas Are Proof

Two hands showcasing different nail designs: one with a pink color and ring, the other with black and spider web patterns.
Non-Cheesy Halloween Nail Art Does Exist @m.o.n.a.j / @nailartbyqueenie

As a kid, I showed up to school on Halloween covered in spiderweb eyeliner and whatever press-on nails I could find at the store. It was a day to go all out. And I still feel that way as an adult; although my corporate office might not be the place for face paint and extra-long eyeball-adorned Halloween nails . Instead, I opt for a more minimalist nail design to celebrate the season. Soft colors, fine lines, simple French tips—there's a way to make all of your favorite nail looks a little spookier for October.

Need a few ideas to take to the salon? Peek below at my favorites, from simple cat-eye designs to witchy accents and more.

1) Shiny Bats

Start with a chrome base, then ask for these teeny bats all over your nails (decals work super well here too).

2) Cat-Eye Nails

Cat-eye has been a nail trend for a while, but it really works for spooky season. Opt for any colors you like, but you get Halloween bonus points if it's red, black, orange, or green.

3) Blood Drips

If your vibe is a little more spooky, these blood-drip nails do the trick without looking too theatrical.

4) Silver Swords

You wouldn't guess from a quick glance that these are Halloween themed, which makes them perfect for wearing into November too. But the teeny silver swords (paired with a single rhinestone) feel very Joan of Arc.

5) Ghost French Tips

If Casper the Friendly Ghost was a nail design, it'd be this. These lil guys aren't spooky, but they're so damn cute.

6) Glazed Ghouls

Two lil eyeballs make these glazed donut nails a bit more festive.

7) Rhinestone Spiders

Gemstone nails were one of the biggest nail trends of 2026, and they might look even better with your Halloween mani. These adorable spiders actually look kinda chic with the glitzy rhinestones attached.

8) Orange and Black Stripes

These are undeniably Halloween-inspired, but the simple design makes them feel a bit more grown-up.

9) Witchy Cat-Eye

Go the extra mile with your cat-eye by asking your nail artist to draw on different Halloween motifs (cobwebs, snakes, stars, spiders—whatever goes here).

10) Spooky Webs

These gray and black aura nails are already chic as is, but the added cobweb design adds some special interest for the occasion.

11) Skull Accents

Jack Skellington is, and has always been, my hear-me-out. So a little skull nail design just makes sense! And on top of these shiny, black nails, it's actually quite chic while being festive.

12) Candy Corn Ombré

An orange nail design works for October and beyond, so if your nail appointments don't line up right, try an ombré design like this.

13) Minimalist Mummies

I know a mummy is supposed to be, like, a zombie of sorts, but when they're done like this, they look so damn cute. All it takes is a few lines and teeny little eyes to do the trick.
