1. Socks

The Redditor who mentioned socks specifically cited buying 20 pairs of the exact same socks. How does this improve your life? You never have to worry about finding a matching pair and can easily toss out any with holes.

While Kamel is unsure whether finding a matching pair of socks is a real problem today, he liked the concept of buying socks in bulk so you have many pairs handy.

2. A Nice-Looking Basket

According to Reddit, this type of basket is ideal for placing lightly worn clothes you plan to wear again before washing. Sure, why not? Hangers also work if that's your preference for not having clothes on the floor, too.

3. Tongue Scraper

A tongue scraper is exactly what it sounds like: a scraping tool which helps clean gunk off your tongue.

Kamel and Reddit agreed this is a gamechanger for better overall dental hygiene and avoiding costly dental bills. It's also inexpensive, at around $7 per scraper tool.

4. Blackout Curtains

If you live in a city or country where the sun doesn't set until much later or have trouble sleeping, blackout curtains might be the answer. One Redditor wrote they only paid $4 for these curtains.

5. Pets

Dogs and cats aren't without their assorted financial expenses , but most owners will agree furry friends are very much worth it.

6. Two Twin-Sized Blankets and Duvets

It may sound more expensive for married couples to opt for using two twin-sized blankets and duvets instead of queen or king-size bedding, but one Redditor wrote it has made all the difference to keep from fighting over blankets.

Kamel hadn't tried this approach yet, but wass convinced it works just from reading the Redditor's anecdote.

7. Heated Blanket

One Redditor said they paid $50 for a full-size heating blanket, which helped relieve their back pain and joint stiffness.

While some are on the fence about heated blankets for safety reasons, Kamel said this could be worth investing in if you want to turn it on, get your bed warm and switch it off.

8. Library Card

This, 100%! A library card (which costs nothing to obtain) grants you access to tons of entertainment including physical books, audiobooks, newspaper subscriptions, movies and so much more.

9. Turning Off Your Smartphone's Notifications

Technically, this isn't a purchase, but we're letting it slide.

Taking charge and silencing your phone's marketing notifications keeps you from impulsively spending money. (Continue leaving your health and financial-related notifications on, though!)
