Why We Love This Deal

Lately there have been quite a few fun Leatherman deals on Amazon . From the spring-action Wingman to the robust Leatherman Rev . But one of the best multitools ever has just received a deal so rare that you just might not see it again this year.

The Leatherman Skeletool CX 7-in-1 Multitool is currently $80 in this extremely rare sale. You may recognize the name, as it's very similar to the Leatherman Skeletool Men's Journal reviewed this spring and called "perfect for the backcountry." Here, we'll address the differences, though that review is still a worthwhile read for anyone who wants an in-depth look at the device's capabilities.

This includes seven useful fools without the fluff. At the head you'll find two types of pliers and wire-cutting edges. Along one arm you'll find a bit insert to put a screwdriver bit in, plus a holder for another. That makes it more adjustable than the typical Phillips plus flathead arrangement a lot of EDCs use. Next to that is a flat blade with a sharp point, such as what you'd find in a pocket knife setup. The other arm has an exposed carabiner that can be used as a bottle opener. The tool's entire body is dotted with holes that keep it lightweight without sacrificing structural integrity.

So, how does it differ from the non-CX version? The CX is technically more premium, with the blade being overall better. The most straightforward reasoning for this is its harder 154CM stainless steel composition. More debatably, the straight-edged blade of the CX can be seen as a buff over the non-CX's serrated blade, but it does depend on what you intend to use the blade for, of course.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Shoppers do love the blade on this one, often reaching for it just as often as they do dedicated pocket knives. "I carry one of these every day and while I do carry a separate pocket knife, many times I find myself just using the 154CM blade that's included on this version."

Another posed an interesting thought experiment. "I'm not sure if the tool is incredibly light for how strong it is, or if it's incredibly strong for how light it is." They concluded that both possibilities were correct and, though criticizing the carbon fiber parts as somewhat gimmicky, complimented the "sturdy and strong" build of the tool.

The Leatherman Skeletool CX 7-in-1 Multitool is now $80. This tool makes a great gift for yourself or for a practically-minded handy individual in your life.
