I've Tested Almost Every Helix Mattress, But I Keep Coming Back to This One

Helix has a wide range of mattresses, but its quiz makes it easy to narrow down your options. We've tested almost every mattress in the brand's lineup, and the Dusk Luxe remains one of our top recommendations, particularly for couples and combination sleepers who prefer a hybrid mattress.
At the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab , we test mattresses each year with the help of hundreds of at-home consumer testers and routinely survey Good Housekeeping readers about their experiences. For Helix specifically, we've reviewed firsthand feedback from 96 mattress owners.

Which Helix Mattress is right for you?
The Dusk Luxe is our top Helix recommendation for most shoppers, but, depending on your personal preferences, you may prefer a different model.
-
Dusk Luxe :Medium feel with a responsive yet pillowy surface. It's designed for back and stomach sleepers.
-
Midnight Luxe :Medium feel with more cushioning and contouring. It's designed for side sleepers and is Helix's best-selling mattress.
-
Other mattresses: Sunset and Moonlight are softer, while Twilight and Dawn are firmer. Core models are shorter with fewer layers and non-zoned coils, while Elite models have a loftier profile, denser foam and micro-coils for a more premium feel. Helix also makes Plus models in each collection with extra support for plus-size sleepers.
How the Helix Dusk Luxe performed in our tests
- Medium firmness for different sleeping positions
- Good compromise for partners with different preferences
- Zoned coils for spinal alignment
- On the pricier side for boxed hybrids
We've tested several iterations of the Dusk Luxe over the years, and Helix has updated the mattress along the way. The most significant update came in 2025, swapping in new foams, and our most recent testing reflects the latest version we evaluated.
Comfortable, balanced feel
The Dusk Luxe has a medium feel that consumer testers found supportive without feeling too firm. Its combination of foam layers and a zoned coil system (which means it's firmer in areas like the lower back) gives it a responsive, cushioned feel. Combination sleepers especially liked how easy it was to change positions without feeling "stuck." One tester said, " The mattress is contouring but feels supportive under pressure points, " while another appreciated that it was soft enough for back sleeping but supportive enough for side and stomach sleeping.

Couples also appreciated how well it accommodated different body types and sleep styles. One tester shared, " My husband and I really like the mattress as it's extremely supportive and accommodates our two very different size/shaped bodies. " Another user told us it was a good fit for her as a side sleeper and her partner, a back sleeper. She described the bed as "not too soft so you don't sink in, but not so hard that it doesn't move to best support you."
Helix sells an optional ErgoAlign layer for additional targeted support, but we haven't seen enough of a difference in our testing to recommend the upgrade.
Motion isolation
The updated Dusk Luxe impressed couples with its motion isolation, despite its responsive feel. One recent consumer tester said, " One of my favorite features is the excellent motion isolation—I don't feel my spouse toss and turn at all during the night, which is huge, and has made a noticeable difference in the quality of my sleep. "
Edge support
Tester feedback on edge support was mixed. Some found it noticeably better than other mattresses they'd tried, while others weren't as impressed. I'd personally describe it as sufficient rather than standout.

Temperature
The Dusk Luxe sleeps cooler than an all-foam mattress, but it isn't one of the coolest mattresses we've tested. Some consumer testers who switched from foam noticed an improvement in their sleep temperature.
If you tend to sleep hot, Helix offers a few cooling upgrades that may be worth considering. Our testers routinely praise the GlacioTex cover, which feels cool and smooth to the touch, while those who've tried the CoolForce layer have reported improved temperature regulation.
Price
In our evaluations, good boxed hybrid mattresses usually cost around $1,500–$2,000 for a Queen size. That being said, there are exceptions: We've seen standout options for under $1,000 and pricier models worth the splurge. The Dusk Luxe sits toward the higher end of the price range for boxed hybrid mattresses, but our testers have generally found it worth the investment.
Note: Helix frequently offers discounts.I constantly see the Dusk Luxe at 20% off ($1,999 for a Queen size), so I recommend comparing the current price rather than focusing on the listed MSRP. You'll see the biggest discounts during shopping holidays, like Black Friday or Presidents' Day.
Ordering, setup, and trial period
Ordering
Helix makes it relatively easy to narrow down your options online. Its sleep quiz asks about factors like your sleep position and preferences, then recommends a mattress based on your answers. I find I don't always agree with the results, but I appreciate how I can easily compare models and review their construction. Our survey respondents generally praised the straightforward shopping experience. One noted, "The website made it easy to compare options without any confusion or sales talk."
Setup
Like many online mattresses, the Dusk Luxe arrives compressed in a box for at-home setup. It's heavy and requires at least two people to fully unbox and set up, but our testers were generally able to set it up without major issues.

Trial period
Helix offers a generous 365-night sleep trial, but you'll need to try the mattress for at least 30 days. This means that you can return your mattress for a full refund within the first year if it's not the right fit.
Note: In past years, some survey panelists told us it took a while to get a hold of customer service compared to other brands they've shopped at.
The bottom line: Is the Helix Dusk Luxe worth buying?
The Dusk Luxe is one of my favorite mattresses to recommend.I'm impressed by how it maintains its responsive, lifted feel without sacrificing motion isolation. While it's not the coolest mattress I've tested and the edge support isn't standout, its well-rounded performance makes it an easy recommendation.
