Black Friday is one of the biggest times of year for mattress sales, but not every discount is worth jumping on.For almost five years at the Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles, Apparel & Paper Lab, I've tested 250 mattresses , from new innovations to popular best sellers. Add in my colleagues' decades of reporting on mattresses and tracking prices, and we know both what makes a great bed and what a genuinely good deal looks like.

This year, I'm only highlighting mattresses we'd recommend even at full price. The Black Friday sales may not be the deepest discounts we've seen all year, but there are still worthwhile opportunities to save on mattresses we stand behind. Ahead, see the deals that made our cut, plus exclusive offers you won't find anywhere else.

1) Saatva Classic Mattress

Good Housekeeping/Jillian Sollazzo

THE DEAL: Good Housekeeping readers can take 20% offtheir Saatva orders (with a minimum $1,000 spend) by shopping through our exclusive link through December 1.

WHY WE LOVE IT:This is an exclusive deal for our readers that's better than Saatva's public sale. The best part? The brand provides complimentary white-glove delivery and mattress removal, plus a generous 365-night trial (with a $99 pickup fee if you opt to return it) on all their mattresses, including memory foam, latex, and hybrid offerings.

TESTING NOTES:Out of the hundreds and hundreds of mattresses our Lab pros have tested over the years, the Saatva Classic Mattress remains a consistent winner in tests and evaluations. It stands out for its exceptional support, quality construction, and breathable design. Our testers found that it runs a bit firm, but you can choose from three firmness levels.

2) Bear Elite Hybrid

Bear

THE DEAL:Good Housekeepingreaders can use our exclusive code GH42 for a 42% discounton the Elite Hybrid, or our code GH40for 40% off any other Bear mattresses.

WHY WE LOVE IT:This is an exclusive deal for our readers that gets the Elite Hybrid to its lowest price of the year. It's the best hybrid mattress we've tested: It's received top scores for comfort, support, and sleep quality and has won over every tester who's tried it. Bear also recently upped its sleep trial to 365 days.

TESTING NOTES:This mattress uses pressure-relieving zones that are designed to promote proper spine alignment while helping cushion the hips and back. This can help alleviate pain and provide an all-around comfortable sleeping experience. Lexie Sachs, executive director of the GH Institute, has slept on this bed for almost four years, and it's her favorite of the hundreds she has tested (that's really how you know it's great!).

3) Tuft & Needle Original Mattress

THE DEAL:Tuft & Needle is currently offering 20% offsitewide during its early Black Friday sale, but you can purchase our favorite T&N mattress, the Original Foam, on Amazon for up to 34% off.

WHY WE LOVE IT:We typically see the best deals on this model during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Amazon Prime Day. It's a no-frills foam mattress that back and stomach sleepers loved in our tests because of its overall responsive feel. We also love that you can get it on Amazon for quick, free shipping if you're a Prime member.

TESTING NOTES:Our consumer testers appreciated the firm support, pain relief, and motion isolation of the Essential T&N Original. One tester said the mattress "feels firm and supportive." Another shared, "My back felt better on this mattress." We also found that this mattress was not as prone to overheating as other all-foam models as it includes a layer of graphite-infused foam to draw away heat.

4) Avocado Green Mattress

Avocado

THE DEAL:Get up to 20% off sitewide, including 20% off our favorite top-tested organic mattress, the Avocado Green Mattress.

WHY WE LOVE IT:Avocado's sales can vary, but 20% off is the best we've seen this year for the brand. Each mattress, including the Green Mattress, is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). We also like that the Avocado offers a 365-day sleep trial.

It's a latex model that offers a floating feeling and better temperature regulation (rather than the sinking-in feel of memory foam, which can also trap heat).

✔️ TESTING NOTES:The Green Mattress was a favorite amongst latex hybrids. It has a bouncy feel and offers better temperature regulation (rather than the sinking-in feel of memory foam, which can also trap heat). Our consumer testers found it to be comfortable and appreciated how it evenly distributes their body weight. "It is very firm, like a good solid hug, but at the same time conforms to you and embraces you," one of our testers shared.

5) Nolah Original

Good Housekeeping/Jillian Solazzo

THE DEAL:Use code GH100 for an extra $100 off a mattress purchasein addition to the brand's 35% off sitewide discount.

TESTING NOTES:Consumer testers with pre-existing back pain or conditions such as sciatica and scoliosis found this bed pressure relieving yet supportive. "It has been significantly helpful in relieving back pain for my husband, who has scoliosis," one of our testers said.

Others liked the motion isolation: One shared, "After switching to this mattress, I don't wake up at all when my husband comes to bed late or gets out of bed." 6) Casper The Snow

Casper

THE DEAL:Get up to 30% off mattresses and up to 35% off bundles including a mattress, base, and more.

WHY WE LOVE IT:This mattress comes with effective cooling technology like phase-change materials (PCM) and cooling gel, but we don't typically recommend it because of its high price tag. However, this is the lowest price we've seen this model in a year.

Constructed with breathable coils, cooling gel, a moisture-wicking cover, and phase change materials (PCM), this hybrid mattress is great for those with night sweats who still want the pressure relief of foam.

TESTING NOTES:This hybrid mattress is great for those with night sweats who still want the pressure relief of foam. One of our consumer testers called its temperature control "extremely noticeable," and others reported improved sleep quality. It has a medium firmness rating, but our testers found it to be softer than expected, which was appreciated by side sleepers. "It's soft enough, yet provides great support and conforms to my rapidly aging body," one of our testers shared.

7) Purple Mattress

THE DEAL:Take up to $800 off a mattress and base, including $300 off our favorite cooling mattress, the Purple Mattress.

WHY WE LOVE IT:This is one of the best deals we've seen for the Purple Mattress this year. While it was a bit more discounted during Labor Day (when we were able to score our readers an exclusive 20% off discount), this is the second biggest sale we've seen since July of 2025.

IN OUR TESTS:Hot sleepers and back-pain sufferers loved its breathable nature and praised the unique support and relief. One tester described it as "the perfect balance of soft and firm," while a survey panelist shared, "Every other mattress [that] I have used has never made me feel cool while I sleep, [but] this one does."

8) More mattress deals

There are a few more deals worth considering, even if they're not our favorite sales. Some other top-performing brands from our evaluations are on sale as well, albeit not as steep or rare a discount as the ones we recommended above.

9) Are Black Friday deals a good time to buy a mattress?

After working several holiday sales events and tracking prices each time, I can confidently say that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are some of the best times to buy a mattress. Many brands offer the same discount all month long, but some offer their steepest discounts on the actual weekend of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Plus, we have exclusive codes with brands like Saatva and Bear that bring our top-tested mattresses to their lowest prices this year for shoppers.

Other experts agree: "While mattress companies offer discounts and sales throughout the year, a holiday weekend is when you'll see the most consistent and competitive offers across brands," explains Sachs, who has reported on mattresses for over a decade. Beyond Black Friday, mattress brands historically choose holiday weekends like Labor Day , Memorial Day , and Presidents' Day for major sales.

10) Expert tips for finding early Black Friday mattress deals

Sometimes, it's worth it to splurge.Remember: Sleep is important. Quality sleep at night can influence the course of your entire day—physically and mentally. So, it may be worth splurging a bit on a mattress that sounds right for you, but shopping during Black Friday will help bring that price down and keep some cash in your wallet.

Don't just buy something because it's a good deal.My advice to shoppers is to do some research in general to find a few different options (generally three to five styles) you genuinely like the sound of and check back in for sales.

11) Why trust Good Housekeeping?

In our most recent analysis, our pros evaluated more than 250 mattresses, and our testers logged over 10,000 nights of sleep. We also surveyed over 10,000 mattress owners for feedback on mattresses they own.
