With a degree from the French Culinary Institute, years of experience writing about food and cooking and two teens at home, I'm always thinking about what my next meal will be, which cookware
I will use to make it and how safe that cookware is. Knowing the concerns about forever chemicals
like PFAS and PTFE, as well as the growing interest in nontoxic cookware
, I was eager to review the best ceramic cookware sets.
With so many ceramic cookware brands claiming to be PFAS- and PTFE-free, choosing can be daunting. I narrowed down my testing pool to include the most popular brands, such as GreenPan, Caraway and Our Place. In my testing, I focused on pots and pans that are comfortable to use, easy to clean and durable. And of course, pieces that look good are always a plus when you're keeping them out on the stovetop. After you check out our picks for the best ceramic cookware, find helpful maintenance tips to help your pots and pans last longer.

Best ceramic cookware of 2026
Set includes:8-inch, 9.5-inch and 11-inch skillets; 2-quart and 3-quart saucepans with lids; 3-quart sauté pan with lid; 5-quart stock pot with lid; 11-inch grill pan with lid; 3 pan protectors | Material:Aluminum with ceramic coating | Oven safe:Yes, up to 600°F; up to 425°F with lids | Dishwasher safe:Yes | Induction:Compatible | Warranty:Limited 2-year warranty
GreenPan first launched ceramic cookware in the U.S. in 2007, and the brand's Valencia Pro collection stands out among a generally impressive lineup of products thanks to its excellent performance. I've tested several cookware sets from GreenPan and can confirm they are well-made and user-friendly.
What we liked:This durable set of pots and pans is made from hard-anodized aluminum, which means each piece has a heavy bottom that heats evenly. The handles are ergonomic and stay cool on the stove, though I found them a bit chunky. If you preheat the pan on low to medium heat and use a teaspoon of cooking oil, the nonstick surface works like a dream. I appreciate the glass lids on the pots, which allow you to monitor food without releasing steam.
This cookware cleans easily with a soapy sponge but is also dishwasher-safe. (The brand claims these pans can withstand metal utensils, but we always recommend silicone or wood tools to preserve the coating.) I loved the included pan protectors, which last far longer than the paper towels I usually layer between stacked cookware.
Minor criticisms:If I had to change anything, I would trade the 5-quart stockpot for an 8-quart one. This would help more with large batch cooking or hosting.
- Slick nonstick surface
- Heats evenly
- Glass lids let you see food while it's cooking
- Pan protectors are a nice add-on
- Heavier than some other GreenPan lines
- Would prefer a larger stock pot

Unlike some competitors, the GreenPan Valencia Pro pans let you achieve a nice sear on proteins.
(Lisa Schweitzer/Yahoo)Set includes:8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch frying pans (12-inch comes with lid); 1.5-quart and 2.5-quart saucepans with lids; 8-quart Dutch oven with lid; two rubber trivets | Material:Aluminum with ceramic coating, stainless steel handles | Oven safe:Yes, up to 450°F | Dishwasher safe:Yes, but handwashing recommended | Induction:Not compatible | Warranty:Limited 10-year
This Calphalon ceramic set includes three pans and three pots with glass lids, which is certainly all you need for almost any cooking task — even large meal prep. Your bases are covered with 8-, 10- and 12-inch frying pans, plus two rubber trivets that come in handy when you need to move hot pans from the stove to the counter or dinner table.
What we liked:When I scrambled eggs and seared a chicken breast in the skillet, I had no trouble sliding the food out or getting the pan clean afterward. I found the pots fairly lightweight and easy to maneuver, and liked that the glass lids let me check on what's cooking inside. The brand claims that the cooking surface is scratch-resistant and therefore impervious to metal utensils; however, we recommend using silicone and wood cooking tools instead.
Although the cookware set's full retail price is closer to $300, it's often on sale for less. We've even seen the price drop as low as $150 — and that is a real steal. Our shopping editors have found the Calphalon set sees its steepest discounts around Black Friday, so you may want to check back in then for the best bang for your buck.
Minor criticisms:We found the surface suitably nonstick, but some shoppers report it loses that quality over time. We are testing this cookware long-term, and will update this story with the results.
- Budget-friendly
- Slick cooking surface
- Metal-utensil safe
- Lightweight
- Not induction compatible
Set includes:10.5-inch fry pan, 4.5-quart sauté pan, 3-quart saucepan, 6-quart Dutch oven, 3 coordinating lids that fit all pieces, canvas lid holder, pan organizer | Material:Aluminum with ceramic coating, stainless steel handles | Oven safe:Yes, up to 550°F | Dishwasher safe:No | Induction:Compatible | Warranty:Limited 1-year
For a chic, smaller set of essential pots and pans, consider this pick from Caraway. It has major curb appeal, thanks to its sleek design and trendy colors.
What we liked:Careway pieces are undoubtedly stylish, with gently curved handles and a matte finish. And they work as great as they look. When I tested the frying pan by scrambling eggs and searing chicken, I found it performed well, leaving almost no food residue, which made cleaning very easy. I also appreciate the handy accessories, such as a canvas lid holder and a pan organizer, that come with this small set, adding to its value.
Minor criticisms:I wish the pots and pans were a bit lighter, as I had a tough time maneuvering them, though I recognize I am petite at just about five feet tall. I would also prefer the addition of an 8-inch fry pan, which is always handy for smaller meals or cooking for two. This set comes at a higher price than some others with more usable items. - Sleek design
- Nonstick surface
- Innovative storage solutions
- Comes in eight colors
- Heavy
- Warranty is short for a set this costly
Set includes:8.5-inch multi-use pan, 10.5-inch multi-use pan with steamer insert, 5.5-quart and 3-quart multi-use pots, all with lids and beechwood utensils | Material:Aluminum with ceramic coating | Oven safe:Yes, up to 450°F | Dishwasher safe:No | Induction:Compatible | Warranty:Limited 1-year
The multifunctional Our Place Always Pan has been internet-famous since its launch in 2019. The brand collaborated with Selena Gomez and overhauled the pan in 2023, launching the Always Pan 2.0 with much-needed improvements in its nonstick surface, stain resistance, and oven safety up to 450°F.
What we liked:The brand claims the Always Pan has 10-in-1 capabilities: braising, searing, steaming, straining, sautéing, frying, boiling, baking, serving and storing. Though I wouldn't consider serving and storing legitimate capabilities, the ceramic-coated aluminum pieces are lightweight and pretty. Each pan includes an integrated beechwood spatula, and each pot includes a spoon, which helps eliminate the tendency to leave dirty utensils on the counter.
As for their performance, the nonstick surface appears to be better than that of the Always Pan's last iteration. I had no trouble releasing eggs and searing chicken, and did not find that the pan or pot was stained from oil or tomato sauce. The steamer basket that doubles as a colander is a huge help for steaming veggies or dumplings and for cooking pasta.
Minor criticisms:Unfortunately, the handles on the pans still get hot about halfway down during stovetop use. It's also a bit limiting that the pans are not oven-safe at temperatures higher than 450°F, which means you cannot put them under the broiler. Read more in my Our Place cookware review .
- Each piece is truly multi-use
- Comes with beechwood utensils that integrate into pans
- Includes steamer/colander insert for 10.5-inch pan
- Comes in seven chic colors
- Handles get hot halfway down
- Not suitable for high-heat cooking
Factors to consider when choosing a ceramic cookware set
My time spent testing ceramic cookware yielded these considerations to keep in mind when you're shopping.
✓ Purpose:When choosing a ceramic cookware set, it's helpful to prioritize pieces that work for your daily needs. If you cook for two, you may not need a skillet larger than 10 inches, and you may never need an 8-quart stockpot. If you cook for four or more people, a 12-inch skillet is a must, and you may use a 4-quart saucepan more often than a 2-quart.
✓ Stove compatibility:You should consider your stove type. A gas range can support a wide variety of cookware; glass-topped electric is more delicate and, therefore, works best with lighter pans. We recommend reviewing product descriptions and any manufacturer disclaimers for terms like "induction-compatible" to be on the safe side.
✓ Maneuverability:When it comes to comfort, lighter materials make for nimble cooking, while rounded, elongated handles are easier to grip and hold. Then there's also the safety factor (some handles heat up when you're cooking on the range, whereas others stay cool).
✓ Maintenance:Dishwasher-safe options are a cinch to clean, but considering nonstick coatings can degrade over time, we always recommend handwashing this cookware to prolong its lifespan.
✓ Materials:The best cookware is whatever you're most comfortable with (i.e., likely to use). And because much of the above depends on the material, a quick overview:
-
Ceramic-coated cookwareoften consists of a base material (such as aluminum or stainless steel) coated with a smooth silicone, ceramic-like finish that offers nonstick properties without the chemicals that can be found in traditional nonstick options. Like enameled cast iron, the coating often comes in a wider color range.
-
Ceramic cookwareis just that. Pots and pans that are made entirely of 100% pure ceramic stoneware (no metal core) are free of coatings and chemicals. They are also stovetop-, oven-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe.
How we test ceramic cookware sets
After opening each box, I inspected the pots and pans for any scratches or dings and noted how to care for them. I selected one skillet and one saucepan from each set: I used the skillet to scramble eggs and sauté chicken breast and the saucepan to boil water and heat tomato sauce. I also used these pieces for a variety of everyday cooking tasks.

I left pasta sauce simmering in the GreenPan Nova saucepan way too long, and it still came clean in a flash with just hot water and a soapy sponge.
(Lisa Schweitzer/Yahoo)To rank on our list, the pots and pans had to excel in the following tests:
-
"Hot spot" test:I monitored how long it took the pans to heat up, if they heated evenly across the cooking surface and whether I could get a good sear on proteins.
-
"Stuck on" test:I noted if food stuck to the cooking surface or left stains.
-
"Elbow grease" test:I noted how much work it took to clean the pots and pans and whether they were dishwasher-safe.
Other ceramic cookware sets we tested
Oxo Professional 10-Piece Hard Anodized Ceramic Cookware Set :This Oxo set was the runner-up to GreenPan's Valencia Pro set, which took the title of best overall. It includes 10- and 12-inch fry pans, a 3-quart sauté pan with lid, 2.3-quart and 3.3-quart saucepans with lids, and a 5.2-quart casserole with lid. The pieces all feel sturdy and durable, likely due to the hard-anodized construction, which adds some heft but also ensures pots and pans that heat evenly and retain heat well.

The Oxo cookware heated evenly, was easy to clean and has flat glass lids that you can see through and are able to invert, which allows you to stack them for storage.
(Lisa Schweitzer/Yahoo)GreenPan Nova Ceramic Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set :Another excellent option from the innovators at GreenPan, the Nova cookware set boasts the same slick coating as the Valencia Pro, but on an aluminum base, making it oven-safe (including the lids) up to 600˚F and a bit lighter in weight. It comes in four bright colors with a minimalist look and includes 8- and 10-inch frying pans, a 3.26-quart saucepan with lid, a 5.11-quart sauté pan with lid, a 6.61-quart stockpot with lid, a silicone spoon, a turner, two pan protectors and a sponge.
Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 12-Piece Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set :I was wowed by the look of this sleek set that includes 8- and 10-inch frying pans, a 3-quart covered sauté pan, a 2-quart covered saucepan, a 5-quart covered casserole and four cookware protectors. It looks a lot like the sleek Caraway set with its gold-tone handles and a color range that includes Cornflower Blue, Porcini Taupe, Kelly Green and nine others. Priced at under $150, I'd say it's a pretty good value if you're not cooking for a large group. The pieces are oven-safe up to 500°F and compatible with all stove tops. And they performed well, but we're not convinced of their durability. We'll continue monitoring durability over longer-term testing.

The Beautiful by Drew frying pan seared chicken nicely and was easy to clean.
(Lisa Schweitzer/Yahoo)Xtrema Ceramic 9-Piece Cookware Set :Xtrema is the only brand I've come across that handcrafts its pieces entirely from pure ceramic materials, with no aluminum or steel. If you're a purist and in search of chemical-free, nontoxic cookware, this is the brand for you. This set includes 1-, 1.5- and 2.5-quart saucepans with lids; a 9-inch skillet; and two organic cotton handle potholders. Unlike the bulk of ceramic-coated cookware, these pieces are safe for high heat and can be used on the stovetop, in the oven, on a grill and even over a campfire, plus they're dishwasher-safe and scratch-resistant. The catch is that the cooking surface does not perform the same way as the others we tested. The pans must be preheated for at least three minutes and require about twice as much oil to get the eggs to release easily.

The Xtrema pots and pans have a classic pottery look and retain heat nicely.
(Lisa Schweitzer/Yahoo)Farberware EcoAdvantage 13-Piece Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set :This was one of the least expensive sets I tried and also the least impressive. It includes 8- and 10.5-inch frying pans, a 3-quart sauté pan, 1- and 2-quart saucepans with lids, a 5-quart Dutch oven with lid and four nylon kitchen tools. The cookware is made from 100% recycled aluminum, and the handles from heat-resistant plastic with hanging loops at the ends. The pieces are so lightweight that they felt flimsy, and the pan got very hot, very fast. The cookware is oven-safe up to 350°F and dishwasher-safe.
GreenPan Spectra Hybrid Ceramic 10-Piece Cookware Set :A recent entry into the ceramic cookware market, the Spectra set looks a lot like a popular line endorsed by Hell's Kitchen host Gordon Ramsay. It comes with 8- and 10-inch frying pans, 1.6- and 3.3- saucepans with clear lids, a 3.25-quart sauté pan with a clear lid, an 8-quart stockpot with a clear lid and a sponge. I have only tested a frying pan so far, but it released scrambled eggs easily and seared proteins well. It's also very easy to clean, even if it's on the heavier side. The brand claims the cookware is oven-safe up to 850°F, but experts say it's best not to overheat ceramic pans, as this can degrade the coating.
Carote 10-Piece Granite Nonstick Cookware Set :We considered testing this set because it has an impressive 25,000+ five-star reviews on Amazon and rings up at just under $90 when on sale. Ultimately, we disqualified it because it's not oven-safe, which limits its use in the kitchen and diminishes its value.
Ceramic cookware FAQs
Is ceramic cookware safe?
The term "nontoxic" isn't clearly defined when it comes to cookware, so it's easy to get confused. The safest cookware is made without a fluoropolymer-based nonstick coating and is labeled PFAS-free or PTFE-free. The latter, better known as Teflon, gives many nonstick pans their slick surface. "While it is considered safe for consumer use when used correctly and not overheated (above 500°F), it can release particles when scratched or damaged ," explains Senior Health Editor Laura Williams . According to our experts, ceramic, cast iron, stainless steel and carbon steel are widely considered the best nontoxic alternatives because they don't rely on chemical coatings to be nonstick.
What is the best way to clean ceramic cookware?
You can use warm, soapy water and a scratch-resistant sponge to clean most pots and pans. If more elbow grease is required, consult the brand's instructions for deeper cleaning. Some recommend soaking their pans in hot soapy water for 20 minutes before tackling the job again.
How long does ceramic cookware last?
Certain cookware, like cast-iron skillets and Dutch ovens , is known for having a long lifespan, holding up well to constant use in the kitchen. Ceramic cookware is a little more complicated. In my research, most brands say their ceramic pots and pans will last about three years, but that number really depends on how often you cook with them and how well you care for them. Make sure to follow the cleaning instructions carefully and avoid metal utensils, as these can damage the pan's coating.
