Over the past four years, Flint and Tinder has transformed its waxed cotton outerwear lineup into one of the most robust assortments of any brand.
Huckberry's flagship in-house brand wisely capitalized on the unexpected viral success of its Flannel-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket after an on-screen appearance in HBO's The Last of Us , turning out a stream of follow-up waxed variations of classic jackets. That streak is still going strong with the release of the new Quilted Waxed Western Jacket.

Flint and Tinder is heavily influenced by twentieth-century American workwear, but every now and then, it dabbles in Western wear. The Quilted Waxed Western Jacket straddles the line between the two historically interconnected genres.
It applies a diamond-quilted insulated pattern to the classic Western jacket or shirt motif, featuring snaps on the front, cuffs and pockets. The quilting is insulated with 40g PrimaLoft Eco Black post-consumer recycled fill.

A gray herringbone lining along the inner collar and cuffs adds an intriguing visual accent and a soft feel. The rest of the inside is lined with a contrasting nylon.
Along with the dual chest pockets and welted hand pockets, an internal vertical zip pocket sits next to the placket.
Yokes on you
The most distinctly "Western" detail of this design is the pointed yoke. There is a single point on the back and one on each shoulder.

Flint and Tinder sources its waxed cotton from several mills, and for the Quilted Waxed Western Jacket, it turned to British Millerain. The shell is made of Tekwax Evolution 6 pure cotton canvas.

Unlike most other waxed cotton varieties, British Millerain claims Tekwax Evolution 6 is machine washable, though I highly recommend sticking to spot cleaning whenever possible.
