Earlier this year, Puma debuted the Cell Geo 1 and already it's been a popular canvas for reinterpretations, especially within the fashion industry.
However, for its latest take on the '90s-inspired silhouette, Puma flies solo with arguably the most attractive version so far.

Cell service
In the mid-to-late '90s, Puma began developing its Cell cushioning system for running shoes. Instead of your standard foam midsole, the tech utilized interconnected hexagonal cells to help absorb impact while also providing support.
The Cell Geo 1 is not a reissue of any one particular shoe but an homage to that era of the brand's sneakers. Instantly recognizable by its chunky, chevron-filled heel and layered upper, the silhouette looks unlike anything in Puma's current catalog and with an industrial design edge.

Earth to Puma
This newest variant in Galactic Dust & Loden leans into an outdoor aesthetic rather than a streetwear one like its predecessors. Structurally and materially, the shoe doesn't change. It features olive-colored suede uppers and a mesh Formstrip logo down the center.
On top of that layered design are black leather overlays that tie the silhouette together. The leather continues up top, outlining the collar and eyestays, tracing back down to the heel.

While the forefoot base is rather straightforward, the heel is the obvious headlining feature here. Colored in a brownish-maroon, the structural unit has an exaggerated flair that nods back to the '90s when sneakers often featured more unexpected designs.
In spite of the earthy vibe of these shoes, I would traverse too many trails. The rubber outsole is undoubtedly capable of handling your everyday needs but it's not built for the wilderness.

Price and availability
The Cell Geo 1 in Galactic Dust & Loden is expected to land on Puma's website in a couple of weeks. Right now, you can grab a pair from End Clothing for $185.
