I Walked Miles in Skechers’ Memory Foam Ankle Boots—Here’s How They Held Up

It's no secret that I love Skechers shoes for their exceptional comfort and affordability. Every single pair of sneakers I've tried from the brand has been comfortable and supportive for all-day walking—but while I've tested many pairs of Skechers walking and running shoes , I still have yet to try the brand's other styles of footwear, like boots. So, when I recently got the chance to try one of Skechers' best-selling ankle boots, the Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going , I was immediately on board.
I love a good pair of ankle booties (especially for the fall season!)—but I've found that many boots lack the proper support and cushioning to keep my feet comfortable during long days of walking. But Skechers always delivers on comfort in my experience—so I was curious to see whether that was true of their ankle boots, too. They're designed to be comfortable with a memory foam insole, and a convenient slip-on design—but could they?
After trying out the Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going - Floral Moment myself, here are my honest thoughts on the slip-on ankle boots—and whether they're worth adding to your rotation of comfy fall footwear.
- Soft, protective feel with air-cooled memory foam cushioning
- Relaxed, roomy fit
- Comfortable upper with soft, warm chenille lining
- Water-repellant upper
- Hands-free slip-in technology for easy on and off
- Less structured arch support than other Skechers styles
- Not available in wide sizes
How I tested
I tried the Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going specifically in the "Floral Moment" style, opting for a size 7 medium width and in the Black color. Over the past few weeks, I wore these slip-on ankle boots on walks around New York City—including during commutes on city streets, strolls around my neighborhood, and while running errands. While testing these shoes, I made sure to take note of the fit, design, cushioning, and arch support, as well as their overall comfort.
Design and fit
These Skechers boots come in several different styles and variations; while I opted for the " Floral Moment" style , which has a floral embroidered design on the side, they also come in other variations—from a classic "Modern Hour 2" (note: currently only available in wide sizes) to a "Sweet Darling" version with a buckled strap, to plenty of fall- and winter-ready boot styles designed with faux fur trim and lining ( "Fall Feeling," "Dreamers Luxe Vibes," and more).
Personally, I loved the floral detail on the "Floral Moment" style. I opted for these in my usual size (size 7, medium width) and found them true to size. According to the brand, these shoes are designed with Relaxed Fit technology , which provides a "roomy comfort fit" at the toe and forefoot. True to its name, the fit was comfortably relaxed and spacious, with plenty of room for my toes to naturally splay in the toe box. At the same time, though, the boots still felt secure on my feet, with no danger of shifting or slipping off while I was walking.
The upper of these shoes is genuine suede with chenille lining, which I found to feel extremely soft and cozy with a cushioned, flexible feel all around my feet—it almost felt like I was wearing a pair of warm, cozy slippers. This material did a great job of keeping my feet warm (but not overheated) during the colder days of the season. Additionally, I appreciated that the upper is treated with 3M Scotchgard to help repel water—making these shoes ideal for rainy and snowy days.
Cushioning and arch support
The very first thing I noticed when I tried on the Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going boots was how soft and protective they felt on my feet—not just with the cozy upper and lining material, but with the cushioning underfoot. These booties are designed with Skechers Air-Cooled Memory Foam , a cushioned comfort insole that contours to your foot shape to offer pressure relief, while providing breathability to help keep your feet cool.
This cushioned insole felt super soft and comfortable immediately out of the box, with no break-in period needed; it felt like the memory foam gently molded to the bottom of my feet, offering a pillow-like feel with each step. Additionally, the shoes felt softly padded at the heel and toe area specifically, too, providing even more comfort.
While these boots don't have a dedicated arch support system, I still found them to have a good level of support for my arches and heels, making them comfortable during long miles of walking. However, the feel is more soft and padded rather than structured—so this arch support may not be enough for someone who needs a strongly contoured or orthotic-like feel. In that case, I'd recommend opting for a style with Skechers' specialized, podiatrist-approved Arch Fit system (which I love in the Go Walk Max Cushioning Arch Fit - Areena sneakers ).
Slip-in technology
One thing that's especially great about the design of these boots is that they're constructed with Skechers' signature hands-free slip-in technology , which makes them easy to slip on and off without having to bend over—a feature I already love in the brand's sneakers for their time-saving convenience ( podiatrists also recommend them for seniors and those who have mobility issues). I was happy to find that this technology worked just as well in the boots; I was able to step in and out of them quickly with ease, without having to fiddle with a zipper or even touch the shoes at all. Yet, they also stayed on my feet when walking without slipping off, thanks to the heel pillow at the back of the shoe that's designed to hold your foot securely in place.
The bottom line
I give the Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going boots very high marks for their plush, pillow-like comfort—they honestly felt like walking in a pair of soft, comfy slippers, with the cozy protection of a boot.I've recently been experiencing some foot pain at the top of my right foot, and I was impressed that these shoes kept my feet comfortable without exacerbating my pain—even on city walks and commutes over hard, unforgiving concrete.
I credit that comfort to the plush memory foam cushioning, which softened each step to provide great pressure relief, as well as the soft and protective upper and the roomy, relaxed fit. I also found the arch support comfortable, though it may not feel structured enough for people who need pronounced, contoured support. Plus: The slip-on design makes the boots easy to put on and take off, while the water-repellent upper provides protection on damp, chilly days.
My final verdict? The Skechers Slip-ins Relaxed Fit: Easy Going boots make for a worthy addition to your fall and winter shoe lineup—and I'd ultimately recommend them to anyone looking for a comfy, cushioned pair of ankle booties for everyday wear and casual days of walking. Luckily, they come in many different styles and variations ; I love the "Floral Moment" style I tested, but am also definitely eyeing the taller, faux fur-lined version for winter.
