I've always liked the idea of handmade Christmas ornaments. There's something sweet about hanging a decoration you made yourself, even if your crafting skills occasionally need supervision.

Aldi's Lego Snowman Ornaments Building Set gives you exactly that for $12.99. The 168-piece kit lets you build two little snowmen to hang on your Christmas tree once they're finished.

Lego Snowman Ornaments, $12.99 at Aldi

The set includes two snowmen with entirely different personalities. The taller one wears a top hat and carries a present, while the smaller snowman sports glasses, a beanie, and a lantern. Both have carrot noses and hanging rings, so they're ready for the tree once you've finished assembling them.

According to Lego's official product listing , the set is designed for ages 6 and older. The taller snowman measures over four inches high, while the smaller one stands a little over three inches.

The nice thing is that you don't have to choose between crafting and decorating. You get to build something with your hands and end up with two ornaments you can take out every December.

I'd make these during a Christmas movie night or while spending an afternoon with family. You could each build one snowman, then hang them together as a little reminder of the time spent making them.

They're also cute enough to display on a windowsill, bookshelf, or mantel if your tree is already struggling to accommodate another ornament.

Two Snowmen, Zero Actual Snow Required

For anyone who enjoys homemade holiday decorations, DenGarden also covered a DIY project using sequins to create sparkling Christmas ornaments . The Lego version offers a considerably lower risk of finding craft supplies stuck to your socks three weeks later.

Aldi lists the kit as an upcoming find arriving Nov. 4, so it isn't available through that listing just yet. And while the snowmen make sweet little decorations, remember that the set contains small pieces and isn't suitable for children under three.

Personally, I think the best part is that you can take credit for making your own Christmas ornaments without having to explain why the snowman's head is slightly crooked. Although with 168 pieces involved, I'd still keep the instructions nearby.
