Bandai Spirits

The latest Metal Build toy release from Bandai Spirits is the much-loved Nirvash from Eureka Seven , but it hasn’t been at all straightforward to pre-order.

As Eureka Seven is celebrating its 20th anniversary, we’re finally getting a really lovely-looking Metal Build toy of the Nirvash.

Specifically, this is the Nirvash Type Zero RS , and it not only transforms as per the original anime, but also features an enormous amount of diecast throughout.

Moreover, as this is a very famous mecha design by Shoji Kawamori , he was also hired to supervise the toy’s design and to ensure it remained accurate to his original artwork.

Bandai Spirits

That said, this is a Metal Build release, and these tend to be somewhat stylized, and this release is no exception. Especially as the tyres at the rear now look suitably huge (shown above).

However, all of this excellence was hampered somewhat by the pre-orders for the toy selling out within minutes of it going up.

Thankfully, Bandai Spirits has since done another batch of pre-orders , and that is still up and working at the time of writing this.

Currently, this is a Japan-only release, but I fully expect this Metal Build Nirvash to come Westward via Premium Bandai at some point this year.

As for the price, well, it costs 39.600 yen (or around $247 at the current exchange rate). That’s a lot, but it’s also quite a large toy that not only transforms but also uses a lot of diecast parts in its construction.

There’s also a great interview with Shoji Kawamori and Tomoki Kyoda, director of Eureka Seven , so that’s worth a watch if you have the time (shown below).
