Some dogs hear "one more throw" as the opening offer in a negotiation. You're ready to head inside, they're standing over the ball, and apparently neither dinner nor sunset is a convincing argument. The look on their face suggests you should have cleared your schedule.
With evenings getting shorter, a toy made for play after dark has some appeal. Target's Nerf Sonic Dog Ball Toy costs $10.49 and includes three balls, one of which glows in the dark.

The set includes a glow ball, a peanut butter-scented ball and a solid foam ball. That gives you a little variety to work into the same familiar game. Your dog can conduct the very serious business of deciding which one deserves to be carried everywhere.
The glow ball is the standout for evening fetch. Anyone who has watched a ball disappear into the grass knows how quickly the human can become the one doing the retrieving. A little glow sounds especially appealing when you would otherwise be squinting at the lawn.
Target lists the balls at 2.5 inches and recommends the set for medium and large breeds. The toys are compatible with Nerf Dog blasters, and the care instructions call for hand washing. Supervise play and remove any damaged toy.

Meanwhile, the scented option gives curious noses something to investigate. If Target's snack-filled troll toy already caught your attention, consider this another find for a dog whose interests include both toys and peanut butter.
For evening games, stick to a familiar space with enough lighting to see your dog and the ground. If your dog is nervous about going outside at night , keep their comfort in mind and save fetch for daylight.
At roughly $3.50 per ball, the set makes a fairly affordable addition to the toy basket. I like the idea of having a few options ready by the door, especially for the dog who considers your arrival home the official start of their recreational activities. Your throwing arm may want to negotiate its hours.
