Betting Dynamics: TCU vs. UNC with Major Line Shifts
The TCU vs. North Carolina betting lines continue to change as Jordan Dwyer sits out, complicating game predictions. Kevin and Craig give their picks.

Tcu and North Carolina, i- it's a number that has been moving a little bit.
I thought this was gonna get to 10, actually.
So right now we're seeing eight and a halves and seven and a halves.
It opened, at, you know, more so a, a flat seven, maybe even a six and a half out there.
But TCU money came in, not super surprising.
People wanna fade Bill Belichick off of the disaster that was last season.
And I thought that that was going to continue to run up.
A combination of buyback on North Carolina and some news this morning that TCU is going to be without their leading receiver, Jordan Dwyer, he was supposed to be wide receiver one for this team, has dropped this number a little bit now, sitting down here at seven and a half.
I played the eight and a half on North Carolina.
I played it as soon as, the news dropped.
Again, I think you can still get plenty of eight and a halves out there, because to me, that Dwyer news kinda confirmed, okay, double digits is not coming, right?
Nine and a halves are not coming.
There's a few different things that I think kind of work in North Carolina's favor, but th- there's one specific thing that they did that put a smile on my face and said, "Okay, I think they're serious," which was hiring Bobby Petrino to be the offensive coordinator.
Bill Belichick, in the back stretch at New England, you could tell had, like, four names in his phone, and it's how Matt Patricia, Ohio State's defensive coordinator, spent a season as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots.
Right.
I mean, it's still one of the most ridiculous things of all time.
So you go into last year at North Carolina, we're all wondering what this is gonna be, and it was a disaster.
So instead of, v- you know, again, Mike Lombardi and just, like, some of these, you know, nonsensical people they have around the program, Bobby Petrino is the real deal.
This guy can still coach offense at the college level at a high level, and that to me is almost a pretty hands-off situation for Bill Belichick.
I don't think he's ever gonna be 0% i- involved, right?
That just does not-- That's not Bill Belichick.
But I can now bet on the North Carolina offense through the Bobby Petrino lens, and I just think it shows, Craig, I'm wondering if that lands for you, that Belichick going outside his tree shows that he, he's, like, well aware how important this year is.
If this is a four-win season again, I don't think there's a third crack at it here for Bill Belichick in Chapel Hill.
So I, I think it's more out of, no choice than it is as opposed to recognizing it.
I think that the, the stuff that surrounds the North Carolina program is troubling.
I think that this point spread in a neutral site is a little troubling for, North Carolina.
I mean, this game is not at TCU, and what would the line be if it was?
I mean, I-- would it be 11?
Would it, would it be 12?
Yeah.
So I believe- Definitely it's, it's week, it's week zero, and anything can happen.
And, look, y- we saw a couple years ago Colorado open up incredible and then sorta fell apart, and Colorado was the darling of college football, and then things didn't work out that way.
I, I, I am not optimistic at all, Kevin, on, on, North Carolina.
The, the l- the-- Certainly the number, the total is low.
He could get over that.
I don't, I don't-- But I, I think that this is it for Bill Belichick at c- at, North Carolina.
I, I, I don't even know if he makes it through the season.
For me- Mm-hmm it was one of those things that I, I think it was pride on the line here.
I don't think that this is something that he wanted to do.
I think this is something that he had to do.
And when his ego was fighting against Robert Kraft, and I suppose what really happened there, we don't know the truth, Kevin, is that it does certainly feel like Robert Kraft told Arthur Blank not to hire him at Atlanta.
I mean, it feels that way to me.
Yeah.
Because, like, every sign pointed toward him getting that job.
And then when that happens, Kevin, just sorta having some familiarity with the game, Arthur Blank, you know, you know, secretly probably is like go- you know, "Wait, what happened to Arth-" You know, another owner calls Arthur Blank, "Hey, why didn't you hire?"
"Well, I'll tell you why we didn't hire."
And, you know, and then all of a sudden he is out.
Mm-hmm.
And he's got no choice, and he's like, "You know what?
I'm gonna save face here, and I'm gonna go to North Carolina."
Now, let me take a step back.
Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time.
He's best, coordinator of all time.
He's a f- you know, Hall of Famer.
Best I've ever seen.
This, this is going to be, I think, a stain on the resume, and I don't even know that he makes it through the season, Kevin.
I have, do not have high hopes for the Tar Heels.
But in a week one scenario, as I said, anything can happen.
It's a neutral site.
I have some fear that the Tar Heels are gonna be one of the worst teams in the conference again, and I think that Belichick will be back, and he'll coach in the NFL as a coordinator of some kind.
And maybe it ends up working out for him in the end, but this is all about ego for me, Kevin, nothing else.
I think that's why he's there, and unfortunately ego took over, and I, I, I don't see success coming this year.
