On The Mets Pod, Connor Rogers and Joe DeMayo talk to SNY MLB Insider Chelsea Janes about her early impressions of young Mets outfielder Carson Benge, how "he doesn't look like a rookie, he's calm, never overmatched, has a plan."

Now that we know Benge has made the team, what did you see in the spring from the young player that led to all of this and him seemingly meeting expectations?
So I, I obviously didn't know that much about him other than kind of the basics of his resume.
And then starting to see the at-bats, he just, as you all saw too, you know, like, he doesn't look like a rookie.
He just looks very calm, never overmatched, has a plan, can execute it, you know?
Like, he's got the talent to put the bat on the ball.
So that was all, okay, you know, this is a good baseball player.
But I think for me, what really stood out was just the demeanor.
It-- he almost does not seem to have any doubt.
I'm sure it's there, but when he talked about, you know, trying to make the team or how much he hates striking out, or is it hard facing lefties, he was always like, "You know, I, I think my job is just to hit the ball.
That's what I try to do."
And I think you kind of believe him.
You know, there are guys who try to say the right things and, you know, a simple mindset.
You're like, "Okay, I can tell you're actually kind of panicking," and he's just not.
Like, it seems very simple to him, and I think that's probably what allows him to have the success it does and, and hopefully will allow him to, like, weather kind of the ups and downs that are probably coming.
Although with his skill set, it might not be as, as pronounced as some rookies.
