I want to finish with a couple things on this current Giants team.
Buster Posey is the boss now, a friend of yours, a longtime teammate of yours.
Does that surprise you?
No, not at all.
I mean, he, he Honestly, he s- seems like he's built for this role, that he has now.
it's a little strange to think about, you know?
I don't, I don't know if I You know, you always en- envision certain people being able to do the job.
He was definitely one of them.
I always envisioned, you know, Javy Lpez being able to do it as well.
but it- still, it just doesn't seem like a reality to you until it actually happens and, but it seems like it f- it fits him perfectly.
Yeah.
You know?
So it's not, it's not too strange of a thing.
It's just kind of weird to think about at first.
I know he and Tony have talked about wanting you, and maybe in spring training, to be out there at some point.
Is that, do you hope to And you said you're busier than you've ever been, but do you hope to be involved in, in some way down the line?
Absolutely, and I think I've tried to get out here the past two years, honestly, in spring training.
And, you know, it's just I, I don't know.
I, I've still not figured out how to organize my life the way I want it to, and it's just really chaotic, and I got stuff going on.
I'm coaching every sport I can with my kids.
And, you know, it's hard to kind of shift stuff around where you can make it work.
But I will definitely make sure that I get out there at some point, and I hope they continue to ask me, because it's something I really want to be a part of.
The last thing, I, I mentioned seeing you at first base and how far you played, and Bryce Elder is just bringing all of a sudden I see him start inching further and further along.
He is the left-handed hitting first basemen.
He's starting to draw a lot of walks.
We've seen some of the power.
I don't know if you've met him, but what advice would you give Bryce, who is maybe gonna be kind of the heir apparent to what you did here for, for a dozen years?
You know, I think, I'd tell him the same thing that I would tell myself if, if I could go back and tell my younger self something, and I was That would be, be 100% confident in who you are.
you know, you're, you're a, a, a prospect for a reason.
so find what you do and do it to the best of your ability, and making small adjustments in other places and become the player that you want to be.
But always have that confidence in yourself.
I think that's what I lacked early on, you know, because I didn't really struggle until I got to the big league.
So, it was tough to deal with.
but the older I got, the more I realized, you know, how important confidence in yourself was.
and it helped me become a better baseball player.
so I think that's what I'd probably tell him, is just be confident in who you are and go do it to the best of your ability.
