Raiders TE Coach Luke Steckel Brock Bowers & Michael Mayer_ The Ultimate Tight End Duo

Video Transcript

I think Brock and Michael Mayer have such it seems complementary skill sets.

How much do they make each other better and what kind of a difficult is it for defenses?

Yeah, it's, it's, it's a great tandem to have on the field, right?

Two great players, you know, I use this word a lot, but they're both versatile.

I don't think Mike gets enough credit as a receiver and I don't think Brock gets enough credit as a blocker, so we can really move them around in a lot of different ways and attack defense.

In different ways, uh, you know, we're going to see multiple defenses to them because when we go out there and 12 personnel or 13 for that matter, and we got Brock and Tight, uh, Brock and Mike and Ian and whoever it might be, Albert O out there, um, you know, they, they all got to play off each other and those relationships start off the field and hopefully they translate when we get on the grass.

What have you seen from Michael in particular?

I mean, he looks like he's in a really good place outside of busting his nose, but he still is back out here.

Yeah, yeah, he's not the prettiest looking guy anymore, but, uh , but he's had a great camp.

Um, can't say enough good things about Michael Marrick.

So blessed.

I've had an opportunity to coach him for 3 years now.

Um, just an unbelievable football player, unbelievable person, and, uh, you know, I think he's had the best training camp I've seen him have in my short time with him, um, but I'm really excited to see what he does this year for himself and for this team.

What does he and Thomas bring to you?

Yeah, just, uh, you know, kind of a Swiss Army knife force, um, you know, he, he's going to have to play a big role in the run game and pass protection, and he's going to have to be a viable receiver force.

He's done a lot of that out here, caught a lot of balls throughout camp, so, um, like I keep telling him, when the ball comes his way, uh, we got to catch it and we got to make plays with it.
