White Sox Steal One of the Best High School Bats in 2026 MLB Draft
The White Sox added one of the most advanced high school bats in the 2026 MLB Draft, selecting Cole Prosek with the No. 41 overall pick.

Back to talk MLB draft and a steal that I think the White Sox got in the draft, because the White Sox landed one of the best high school bats in the entire draft class, and they got him at forty-first overall when Chicago selected Cole Prosek, a high school infielder from Mississippi.
And now let's start with some of the knocks, okay?
Prosek does lack that five-tool potential that you normally see jump off the page with a high school draft pick.
There's still some uncertainty about where his defensive home is.
He doesn't run all that well either.
But the bat is the real prize here, and it's not hard to see with what he did at Magnolia High School in Mississippi about why the White Sox fell in love so much with this player.
Every year that he played in high school, Cole Prosek won a state title in Mississippi.
He hit a home run in the championship game in twenty twenty-five.
He hit a home run in the championship game in twenty twenty-six, and he threw a complete game.
While he played some catcher, the belief is that Cole Prosek is going to be a corner infielder, likely a third baseman as he begins his pro career.
But this is a left-handed hitter with a sixty-grade hit tool, fifty-grade power.
That translates, according to the twenty to eighty scouting scale, to a two ninety-ish batting average with twenty home runs in the major league someday.
But I do think that even undersells his power a little bit.
I think that, the power could really develop into a true plus tool as Prosek matures and improves on his offensive approach.
He had eighteen home runs in forty-one games this past spring.
So for all of the talk about high school players and their developing power, which doesn't always show up in games, Cole Prosek has no issue driving the ball out of the yard as a high schooler.
Now, as is the case with any high school talent, there are some things for the White Sox to work on here.
Development needs to be made, but I think the production really speaks for itself.
The White Sox are getting a first-round talent, high upside bat, and they're getting it in the second round of the draft.
Prosek was the number twenty-seven ranked prospect in MLB Pipeline's draft class rankings.
You got him at forty-first overall.
So after going for the high floor pick with Rok Cholowski, a guy to anchor your draft class, the White Sox follow it up with Landon Tomey and Cole Prosek, two of the best high school bats in the entire class, and really adds a high upside swing to their next generation in the farm system.
I think Chicago did really well here, adding Prosek at number forty-one, and this is a name, that I think White Sox fans are going to want to, keep an eye on moving forward.
