Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2025-29

The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) annually reviews current student membership and facilities data. This is to identify future capacity needs and capital requirements. The Proposed CIP for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025-29 was released in early January 2024 and includes:

  • a five-year membership projection
  • program capacity utilization
  • potential solutions for capacity deficit

The School Board adopted the CIP for FY 2025-29 with amendments on February 8, 2024.

The Program identifies projects such as new construction, capacity enhancement, renovation, and potential site acquisitions.  Needs are included in the schedule of capital improvements for the next five years, and the Capital Construction Cash Flow (Cash Flow) tracks the funding allocation for these projects.  Actual completion dates for capital projects depend on cash flow and debt service limitations established by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
