Thank you for your comment. As you know, this rod has developed for Spey O Rama tournament. Recommended grain window for long spey line is 900 to 1000. It weighs about 320 gram. I purchased this rod for training of long spey line casting, not for fishing, so I've never used scandi lines but it seems that recommended grain window is 580 to 640. IMO, this rod is very powerful that heavier weight will match better.
I plan to use this rod for both fishing and casting practice. I am going to have a Salmon trip which I will take my 9wt 14ft as my main rod, and looking for a 10wt 15ft as backup.
At 320gram do you think this rod is heavy? Is it tip heavy or well balanced ? How heavy a reel you need to use to balance it?
As for casting is it demanding to cast or comfortable ? I regard myself as intermediate skill caster. 😊
I was also interested in a Sage TCR 10150, it weighs 11-3/4oz so about similar to 329gram. I read reviews that it is heavy and very fast and stiff and demanding to cast, so I am not quite sure to get it. Deciding between it and the CND. I like fast rod though. From the limited review I could find about this CND I Spey Ultimate it seems it is a better rod.
I don't think this rod is heavy. Well balanced and very fast action for CND. Basically I prefer parabolic action but this modern action rod is one of my favorite one so you may like it.
