A recent study by the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration(薬物乱用精神保健局)found that 3.5 million underage drinkers each year abuse or are addicted to alcohol, a disturbing trend made worse by the many parents who illegally supply underage youths with the beverages. According to US health officials, more than 40% of the nation’s 10.8 million underage drinkers have received alcohol from adults, with as many as 650,000 getting alcoholic beverages from parents or guardians in the last month alone. The survey also found that 1 in 5 people between the ages of 12 and 20 engaged in binge drinking - consuming 5 or more drinks at one time - during the past month.
