英語で発見する心の安らぎ「See yourself as responsible for your situation」

不幸は自分が招いたものではなく、環境のせいである 」という考えが多くの人に浸透しているのでしょうか、頻繁に耳にします。

　これと正反対になりますが、「自分の周りで起こっていることは、すべて、自分が招いたことである。」という考えも、よく聞く言葉です。

　私は、自分の周りで起こっていることは、他人がもたらしたのではなく自分の今までの行動の積み重ねがもたらしたものであると思っています。

　「 自分の周りで起こっていることを人のせいにしていては、いつまでたっても道は開かれない 」と思っているからです。

　このことに関して、Paul McKennaが、著書「Change Your Life In Seven Days」の中で、次のように表現しています。

Until you decide to see yourself as responsible for your situation then you don’t have any power to change it .

　私もこの分に書かれている通り、「自分の周りで起こっていることの原因が自分にあることを理解しさえすれば、状況を変えることができる」と思います。

　Nobel Winner Died Days before Award Announcement

　When the Nobel Prize committee announced Monday that Ralph Steinman was one of the winners of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, it did not know that he had lost his battle with pancreatic cancer days earlier.
　He had been selected for his "discovery of the dendritic（樹枝状の）cell and its role in adaptive immunity," findings which he had used to extend his own life following his cancer diagnosis.
　Though rules prevent Nobel Prizes from being awarded posthumously（死後に）, Steinman's will not be withdrawn given the circumstances, and he has therefore become the first person in half a century to win a posthumous Nobel Prize.
