After watching Kurobe Dam, I continued travelling on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Tateyama Kurobe Kanko cable cars and trolleybus.
Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Kurobe Cable Car connects between Kurobeko [Lake Kurobe (reservoir of Kurobe Dam)] Station and Kurobe-daira Station. It is also only one cable car running in underground tunnel and its maximum slope grade is 587 per mill (31.3 in degrees), the second steepest slope among cable car in Japan. It takes about 5 minutes to travel between both stations.
The cable car was manufactured in and has been in service since 1969, the open of the line.
While travelling, It was impressive that the cable car running in tunnel only and its steps of tiered interior was the highest among those I have ever travelled.
From Kurobe-daira Station, I transferred to Tateyama Ropeway cable car (aerial lift), connecting between Kurobedaira Station and Daikanbo Station. Before getting on the aerial lift, I went out of the station to watch the scenery. While watching Kurobe Dam, the sky got cloudy, but unfortunately, it started raining. Because of the weather, I couldn't photograph the scenery of Mt. Tateyama and aerial lift.
It takes 7 minutes between the two stations and no aerial lift pylon stands to keep good landscape.
While travelling, you can see the beautiful mountains in a fine day, but the bad weather made no chance to me to watch and photograph the scenery.
The fourth transportation on the Alpine Route from Ogisawa is Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Trolleybus between Daikanbo Station and Murodo Station. The trolleybuses makes fleets of up to four cars, but it consisted of two on that day. It takes about 10 minutes between the two stations and a partial double-lane zone like a passing loop is also existed like that on Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus.
